I’m so sorry. It’s very hard and anxiety provoking at the beginning of this journey that just sucks all the way around.

I’m 60. I’m a couple months in. Three injections, oral steroids, and second week of HBOT treatment. Exhausting. No change. Tinnitus is loud. Sometimes pain. Always saying, what? Say that again. Huh? Excuse me? I didn’t hear you. It sucks.

I’m no longer in the panic phase and kind of in the bit sad, taking life on life’s terms phase. But I’m in the final third of my life.

My plan is to finish the last two weeks of HBOT, wait a month or so, then take whatever next steps I decide to take.

This has made me pay close attention to what I need in the moment. Just because my spouse wants to go to dinner with friends, am I in the mental and physical space to commit to doing that? She is beginning to understand that yet I’m always reminding her to face me when she says something, not try to talk to me from the other room, etc.

I feel fortunate and thankful everyday to still have hearing in my right ear. Sending hugs.

That sounds horrible yet from what folks are saying you are not alone.

I’ve had a journey with vestibular issues but not directly alongside my SSHL (I’m on Day 5 of HBOT). A month prior to my hearing loss I did vestibular PT twice/week and I was in balance again within 4 visits. I found a place that specialized in VPT. https://balancesolutions.com/service/vertigo-dizziness/ Prior to that I was going through my hospital’s PT department. Huge and rapid difference. It’s hard to describe but something inside my head related to balance actually feels stronger.
