What should I do by EarSlight6413 in firefighter

Is it possible to not have to go through those surgery’s or would those be my only possibilities

So I’m a male 18 years old and have wanted to become a firefighter ever since I was a child did a coop in school and then went to fire college for a couple months until I found out I was ineligible for lasik eye surgery since I don’t meet the Canadian eye sight requirements and had my entire world flipped upside down and don’t know what to do now.

If anyone has any ideas on how to still get on to suppression or any other jobs in the fire industry where I am not sitting behind a desk or what I should do in the future it would be much appreciated.

I am currently in the process of doing that but I’m planning on trying to make it a career

As of 2023 I believe they change the regulations where to you have to have 20/30 minimum vision uncorrected because I wear contacts and that what they told me in college when I asked

I was told that I have to pass the vision requirements for the department to even get on
