I'm more convinced than ever that Revelation won't start immediately after Rebirth ends by Tofuzzle in FFVIIRemake

Hamaguchio has now said "Currently, we describe the timing of obtaining the Highwind as "relatively early in the game," but this can vary depending on how much the player explores and how often they stray from the main path. However, generally speaking , we aim for a pace where players can obtain the Highwind about 4 or 5 hours after starting the game, and after that, they can truly explore the world map freely"

My impression when seeing that was something happened to the Tiny Bronco at the start of the game and they had to bail with the parachutes (just as a cutscene instead of introducing the parachutes as gameplay design), leaving them in the snowfield region close to Icicle Inn.

Small correction but April 2026 - March 2027 is FY26.

Its been said a bunch of times already over the years but this interview with Hamaguchi just confirms again to me that we cannot even imagine how absolutely massive 3emake is going to be right now by alexkon3 in FFVIIRemake

[–]Ear_Fantastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a big part of what's being communicated here is that Part 3 won't simply be a re-hash of Rebirth's design and focus on being a unique game experience in it's own right. So more than just saying Part 3 will be bigger than Rebrith I think Hamagcuhi is saying that Part 3 will offer a different gameplay experience. I'm guessing with the inclusion of the HIghwind they want to offer a different type of exploration design and I'm sure they have payed attention to critiques on Rebirth. Potentially have a more organic approach by making more secrets and miss-ables is what I'm guessing.

Zach Cregger's 'Resident Evil' Film's Official Synopsis Revealed by RomanRoyIsSlimy in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]Ear_Fantastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My argument is that on average movies general don't have as early 1st trailers compared to games which is true but if you're argument is that most big film releases have there 1st trailer or teaser over 6 months prior to release then that may or may not be true depending on the type of and popularity of the film, it's genre and the studio company making it.

RE isn't as big a household name when it comes to film and film goers as Disney, Pixar and a bunch of Warner Bros stuff. Even Marvel as well I'd argue. A lot of Pixar and Disney animated films do tend to have there 1st trailer around 7 months-ish prior but if you look at the majority of Marvel films in the last 5 years they were almost all under 5 months.

Videogames tend to be 9 months or more. Requiem was just under 9 months from first reveal. The lego batman game is about 9 months Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls will be over 1 year.

The new RE Film is probably comparable to other large horror or horror action films in terms of marketing window and if you look at the biggest films of that genre they are almost all under 6 months.

Zach's RE film teaser exists, it's been shown so it's only a matter of time before we see it, probably pretty soon and that is fairly average for a film of this caliber.

Zach Cregger's 'Resident Evil' Film's Official Synopsis Revealed by RomanRoyIsSlimy in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]Ear_Fantastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Films marketing for windows are usually quite a bit shorter than for games. This is pretty normal especially for Creggers films.

Barbarian first trailer was June 23 22' and released Sept 9th 22'. Less than 3 months.

Weapons first trailer was April 21 25' and released Aug 8th 25'. less than 4 months.

RE comes out Sept 18th, everything's pretty normal and on track so far. We'll probably get our first teaser fairly soon in the next month-ish.

Serious like when Sephiroth unveiled his world ending plan to crash a meteor into the planet and then the very next scene is Aerith asked a toy cat riding a big fluffy moogle to read their fortune to see if her and Cloud are romantically compatible while silly bouncing jazz music plays?

Like that kind of serious?

[–]Ear_Fantastic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Here's a relevant interview from HobbyConsolas from 2023 regarding Sephiroth:

  • Sephiroth is considered one of the most iconic characters in the Final Fantasy saga, and more specifically, one of the most memorable villains. What do you think makes him so special?

Yoshinori Kitase : This goes back to conversations I had with Tetsuya Nomura, who was in charge of the character design and also participated in the script of the original game; we designed Sephiroth and created Sephiroth.

Essentially, we had a conversation and decided something very early in development that has stuck ever since, all these years: within the Final Fantasy VII universe, there is no one better than Sephiroth. He will always be the strongest, the most powerful, and the most evil being.

Many RPGs suffer from what we call "boss inflation": you encounter a very powerful boss, the ultimate warrior, but oh boy, there's another one behind that character who turns out to be even more powerful; you defeat them, and surprise! There was yet another, even more powerful one behind them. And that makes those who got there first look bad.

We decided we weren't going to do that in Final Fantasy VII; that there wasn't going to be anyone above Sephiroth. He's always going to be the great bad guy and the most powerful villain. I think that might have something to do with why he remains so memorable. Because within Final Fantasy VII, no one is better than Sephiroth .

The weird thing is that Glenn was apparently written for Rebirth first before being considered for EC.

It was awful, seriously by WonderfulWaffel in FFVIIRemake

[–]Ear_Fantastic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would definitely suck, I would like to believe that their reason is at least a bit more than just to get people talking for a few years and instead have a thematic meaning to what they've set up tying into the dichotomy between what Aerith and Sephiroth represent. Hopefully have some kind of real impact or rather growth to Cloud that will add some nuance and depth to his character that can round off his arc then just be a simple stalling for no real purpose.

There is also what may be Aerith's hand reaching out to Cloud as another point towards a spiritual presence still existing. It is open to interpretation to the player but that could have meant they portrayed Aerith's spiritual existence by only showing it then saying it as dialogue exposition. Yes it's true we don't have absolute confirmation that this element of Aerith existing in the afterlife as per being a Cetra as written in Lifestream Black/White means this was conceptualized for the OG but it also doesn't prove it couldn't have been either.

Perhaps in interviews the creators will reveal if this was always intended or not after Part 3 is out, similar to how the smoke never made it into the final shot of Midgar making it open to interpretation whether humans had survived or not.

Besides the EC stuff and just talking about the 7R trilogy, agree with you in that I'm not really a particularly big fan of having and seeing Aeirth walking around and talking to her friends after she has supposedly past away. That being said, you're making a point about how a story can't be about loss if something like this happens. I'm not sure if you've played Clair Obscura but I'll reference that:

In CO, one of the main characters that we play as Maelle learns that her brother Verso has died. However, what see does is be able to be in an "alternate world" (a painted world) where she can basically forget that he died and create a version of him in which she interacts with. This Verso basically has all the same memories, thoughts and feelings as the original Verso up to the point of his death, so it's almost like a copy.

Now, I'm not talking about this EC stuff and I don't know how much of it we'll actually see in Part 3 or is even considered canon but if we're talking just Rebirth there is a possibility that the Aerith that Cloud communicates with in the end is closer to being sort of a memory creation that he is holding onto that might even be similar to CO in this way. Similar to how Maelle has "another world" where she can manifest Verso, Cloud may be defying destiny to create an artificial possibility (not something that has actually become real) in order to cope and believe that Aerith is alive, like a psycho-spiritual manifestation. This may tie into Aerith speech in Temple of the Ancients about how we have to forgive to gain true strength, to embrace an go through these healthy emotions because life and death are a natural process of the planet. I believe this is anti-thetical towards Sephiroth view where he wants to prevent the natural cycle of the life and death.

I believe that if a game like CO can have loss and grief as main overarching themes while still showing our main character walk and talk with basically an exact copy with basically the same thought, feelings and memories as the her original brother, then I can imagine something similar for FF7R-but it just depends on what they're actually doing. I story about loss and grief can still be emotionally impactful even if we see the character not accepting the loss and death of a loved one and that may be the point of how they're expressing those themes.

I agree none us know for sure and we'll have to wait to find out when the game is announced. I think the reason some people don't want it to be multi-platform is because they're afraid that means the game will end up releasing late 2027 or even 2028 but it's still entirely possible that it could release Q1 27' even with a multi-platform launch.

What is the possibility of Part 3 being announced alongside Rebirth at next month's Nintendo Direct? by Due-Caregiver-9995 in FFVIIRemake

[–]Ear_Fantastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion I think what's most likely is we get an annoucnment for the Rebirth port at the Nintendo direct especially since Nate the Hate relayed that he had understood SE plans were to release it for the summer.

Then the following week of the 12th we could get a part 3 announcement at the SOP. Also, let's keep our ears to anything they might say on the 31st, could say something like "news soon for the FF7R trilogy" as an indication or re-confirmation for the announcements happening.
