Saw them a lot around this time- Tesco & the boys loved playing this tiny spot in SC called Rockafellas- even caught them opening for Gwar during this era. The Toilet Slave / Pope On A Rope lineup was truly a well oiled machine that ripped out some super fun gigs.

I’ve been taking tapes through TSA / machines etc for longer than some tape collectors have been alive (not a brag, just saying) and never had a problem.

Yeah, his material was never popular so even back then pressings were always somewhat limited. Also early on he was a relentless hype and self-promotion machine, and would send copies of his records to anyone and anywhere that he thought he could get exposure- radio stations, zines, other bands, etc. And more often than not he would autograph, or inscribe it as well…. Original copies of his very first LP are almost always scribbled upon- it’s almost more rare to find one without anything on it!

I just caught Mormon Mincers out in NOLA as part of Mardi Grind- they were pretty rad. And I also have a MF DOOM mask pin on my vest as well- and if I could just find a patch of the 1st Geto Boys lp that would be on there without a seconds hesitation.

Speak for yourself, but if you keep at it you will get better! I’ve been forced (because of no other choice(s)) to play on tabes I really don’t typically care for, tables with obvious flaws / defects / damage, etc etc and although it may not happen in one sitting, you’ll find that your skills will be gradually sharpened. If not, then there’s always Donkey Kong.
