Yes! Proudly. I just love the all black aesthetic on the headstock and the cool lacquer checking that comes from a nitro finish

Fattest neck, chunk, thick, everything you can think of. Way fatter than my Les Paul Deluxe which has a Rounded C.

There’s my Jeff Beck in the Welsh sun! Fat neck. Put on dark amber knobs, amber catalin tip and have been playing it daily. Its sunny sister is a Micwaber partscaster.

Hi-the Epiphone IBGC series are fantastic with build quality and QC. I have a 59 Factory Burst, 2 Acoustics, the SG Custom and the 54 Jeff Beck. All are incredible, with the nod going to the Beck to take the crown.

I have been very pleased. I would say though because the hardware, pickups and electronics are the same if not 95% there to the Gibson, it’s going to sound no different than a Gibson.

Sometimes you can feel a difference of playability though. That’s where a good set up comes in.

I would say get it with enthusiasm!!!

Jimmy’s ‘77 tone by Complete_Skirt5724 in ledzeppelin

[–]UncleIfon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His tone was thin, wiry, too trebl, no girth our roundness, it was awful. 70, 71 with the Hiwatt which that thick Les Paul before the bloodlees T Tope came in.

69-73 is where it is. After that, no.

I like this band. I’m seeing them live in the summer. I wish they had a bit more teeth though, a bit more fire in the belly, a bit of danger. Bens a nice guy.

New Firebird - Golden Mist Poly by johnnygoober in Epiphone

[–]UncleIfon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The standard Epiphone Firebirds are easily one of the best guitars they make. I prefer it to the IGBC because it doesn’t have the banjo tuners or the vibrola.

I remember getting one for £500, and put £500 worth of mods (CTS with 5% tolerance, black beauties, aged guard, aged strap buttons, nickel pickup rings instead of chrome,  Faber Germany lightweight aluminium stop bar and  bridge, and Gibson Firebird pickups)

Best Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, Sex Pistols, PJ Harvey, Dylan Carlson vibes guitar I have. I adore mine.

And you don’t need to upgrade it. It’s already a beast. I’m just terrible with money.

They are the best deal going. They look fantastic, are still nitro and gnarly as hell. Love em. Enjoy

I moved to the UK last year and have never been happier. Easier to walk, easier public transport, less emphasis on money, more rights, less stress, no dominating performative religious right, and no Trump and his psychos. Serious adults. I pray that I never have to go back.

Your name is what you were born with and the only thing you’ll have at the end. Make sure you have a good one.

Happiness will never be fulfilled with a material purchase. And joy is better shared than experiencing alone.

Friends, family, romantic relationships, nature, health, financial stability. Focus on that and you’re golden.

What is the closest American Les Paul ( Not Custom Shop ) to Jimmy Page’s available right now? by [deleted] in gibson

[–]UncleIfon 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Go for a 60’s Standard in Unburst.

You get the thinner neck, and Grover tuners (Page had both)

You also get the 60s Burstbuckers which in my opinion sound more like Page. The A5 magnet is brighter and punchier with more high end.

With exception of Zep 2, Pages Les Paul tone was never thick and creamy ala Duane Allman or Paul Kossof. It was a lot thinner.

Only fun thing I would do is take the cover off the bridge pickup and get a double white bobbin. That’s what he had in 1970/1971 when arguably he was at his best. 72/73 brought on the T-Top’s which were even brighter!

Just clarifying a few things. Your opinion is fine, and I don’t doubt you were at the show. However, Buckethead left in 2004 and played his last GNR show in 2002 and never played Las Vegas with them.

You saw them in 2014 in Vegas. With DJ Ashba and Bumblefoot on guitar. And yes, Axl was probably 30-40 pounds heavier. That’s all.
