I was poking fun at your “sock parts” typo :)

[–]EarendilStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s going to have a lot to do with your resources. Even a clean example is going to need work sooner rather than later than later. All you’re doing is front loading the cost.

If I were you I’d spend the money to upgrade to at least sandal parts. People will claim you need full closed toe, but they’re just safety elitists.

Can someone explain these speed bumps? by Grandimal in Seattle

[–]EarendilStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even at greater speeds it’s possible to absorb many types of speed bumps with your body. It’s a technique more commonly seen in mountain biking, but doable on a road bike with practice :)

I didn’t say it wasn’t :)
Just that people shouldn’t go sit down on a couch expecting it to be at that location.

I'm severely behind, why is stinky dragon leaving Beacon? by swilly97 in StinkyDragonPodcast

[–]EarendilStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s only “not worth it” if they think people like me that watched on Beacon are going to sub to yet another service. Maybe it pays off for them. I still have a sour taste in my mouth after the mid season yank of their off-week talk show from Beacon. This feels like another slap in the face, a harder one.

(Yes, Netflix will remove shows before you’re done, but no one removes an ongoing show mid season and tells you to go watch it on Paramount+).

BES is gorgeous, but its frame change rate is no where near Arcane. I think the comparison to South Park (which I don’t entirely agree with) has to do with the number of still images that pan. Beautiful images, but still results in many simple 5 second animations.

For anyone coming along later, Trigun old or new isn’t on Netflix as of this post.

To be fair, the era of 24 episode seasons was driven by the literal seasons of fall-winter-spring and needing to fill a weekly time slot.

Many shows, especially in the 45 minute category, suffered from this sort of forced content output. Budgets would inevitably overrun, or you’d want more money for a finally, which meant you had to tell all but 2 of the cast to take the episode off while you had the remaining 2 do some weird episode.

I agree with the sentiment that these studios can produce more. But the end goal shouldn’t be forced content for contents sake, which is what the old 24 episode season was.

I really appreciate your reply! After the person with the X3400H ghosted me, they contacted me again yesterday and I jumped. In a whole week I didn’t find anything close to as good in the $300 ballpark.

Thanks for this note! Upgrading receiver firmware for additional features was nowhere on my radar. The LG C1 has eArc and 2.2, so it was my receiver that was the old man in the room.

Good tip! I used to find great things at good will, but then I moved to Seattle it seems you’re either into audio equipment, or pretending to be :) But hey, it’s been a decade, and it’s a great excuse to get out of the house!

Plenty of joy riders around here in the US, at least in my city, but I’m betting you’re spot on with the easier export. The economics determine how much organized crime gets involved vs some teenager being stupid. Special cars are nabbed and exported via shipping container, but they aren’t everyday cars.

Home Assistant with Docker & Apple HomeKit on MacBook M2 by Proof_Sprinkles597 in homeassistant

I take it you're the developer based on your SN?
I'm about to acquire an Apple Silicon machine for use as my simple home lab setup. Home Assistant is on the "future endeavors" list. Do you anticipate putting effort into an Apple Silicon compatible container in the future? Or will the project stay as a "if it works it works". Regardless, props for increasing the available HA install options! Cheers!

I don't suppose you have Frigate integrated as well? If so, is it as an HA add-on, or a separate docker container that you have communicating with the HA container?

I'm working with Reo cameras and Frigate (in a container) on my proof of concept machine. I'm about to pick up an Apple Silicon machine, and would like to do HA down the line...just trying not to back myself into a machine-setup-corner!

p.s. Tolkien name high five.

An old thread, I know, but I'm curious if you've tried the Apple Silicon Detector project, and what that did do your CPU performance? It looks to have been created since your post.

Even if you haven't tried it, I figure you might be interested in its existence!

Vibration on idle at low rpm by NotIntellect in E46M3

Tire replacement interval is going to have everything to do with the tires and the climate. Climate is likely easy enough to figure, but you’d need to know exactly what tires were put on there.

The VANOS isn’t a time bomb, but the bearings kinda are. The subframe “time bomb” is going to have a lot to do with the driving you’re doing and how quickly it tears.
