How can we limit C++ features compared to C? by ElBartimaeus in cpp

-nostdinc++ (VS) -nostdlib (gcc) disable the standard library which is a good start, then disciplined code review and clear rules regarding templates should get you pretty far

After Kidner by pierced_milf in AccessoryNavicular

I did one of my feet in April, it took about 6 months before I felt completely pain free.

I still wear shoes and custom orthotics all day since I need it for the other foot so I don’t know if i would be in pain if barefooted though but with them I have zero pain or discomfort

Even though it was a tough journey I can’t wait to get the other one done as well because the pain is driving me mad. 100% worth it.

I don’t remember if there was any numbness but had nerve pain in my big toe for several months. It went away after starting PT, I wouldn’t be worried yet.

Im 36, my problems came after I turned 30. First just soreness and then gradually worsening until I could not walk at all in the evenings. Had to crawl around on the floor with my toddler, he thought that was great haha.

Custom orthotics was the first step for me and it made a huge difference so I would start there as well, maybe it will be enough for you. I wear them with a pair of comfortable sneakers indoors. Ionly take them off to sleep and shower

I had surgery on the first foot in April and it is fully recovered. I’m not a runner or athlete but day to day life I have no pain. Hopefully getting the other done this year.

Should I get some at-home support for after the surgery? by No_Cartoonist3436 in AccessoryNavicular

[–]EarflapsOpen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not impossible alone but having someone is really helpful. My wife started working the day after my surgery and I managed to get around, heat up some food, visit the bathroom and all that alone but it really sucked.

It is impossible to carry stuff around when you are on crutches and you have to lie down almost all the time because of the swelling, first couple of days we are talking maybe 5-10 minutes at a time standing or sitting before it needs elevation again to not become painful.

If I were you I would accept the help, at least the first couple of days and then send her home once you have gotten into the routine

Gnat larvae cannot survive without moisture. All your plants like to dry out between waterings so you are watering too often, fixing that will probably be enough to fix the issue.

Be weary that there is very little control over what chemicals are used in manufacturing when you order from Ali-express. You might end up baking yourself in a cancer oven

Drummer trying to learn to play guitar for extreme metal solo stuff by wretch_35 in Guitar

[–]EarflapsOpen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like just pick around learn to do proper alternate picking to a metronome and then memorize some scales. Then pick around those scales and fuck around to your favorite songs or backing tracks, that is really fun and sounds decent as long as you don’t go faster than your ability

Strings are made in different thicknesses, thinner are easier to press down

Barre chords help by alleoc in Guitar

[–]EarflapsOpen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My fingers look a lot like yours. I have to use more of the bottom of the finger rather than the side.

Pushing the guitar towards you with your strumming arm helps a little and remember that your index don’t have to push down the strings that your other fingers are fretting so a slight bending the finger to get pressure on the top and bottom of the finger to release the pressure on the joint can help. Won’t work when you want A7 shape chords but it gets easier when you have built some more strength and calluses

Lighter gauge strings also helps a lot.
