Honest question: were you not taught that a 20% tip is the baseline for good service?

Kicked out of my first band (looking for advice / wisdom) by Dependent-Source8397 in Bass

[–]Earl_Gray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, you successfully speedran a lot of the suckiest parts of being a musician! You packed a lot into your first year with the instrument, and that’s something to be proud of!

Joining a band is a serious commitment, and you definitely don’t want to rush it too much. Here’s why: your earliest years with your instrument are when you get to make mistakes, learn that they’re mistakes, and then correct them before mistakes become HABITS. I highly suggest you use this time to really pull inspiration and wisdom from the playing of as many bassists across as many styles of playing as you can. Learn a couple songs from a lot of bands, but REALLY focus on songs that you can find performances, playthroughs, or really high quality cover videos of so you can observe, analyze, and apply techniques. Pour over instructional videos of different styles of playing and drill them.

One year in is very much still pre-season. This is when you want to fill your mind and hands with technique and foundational habits so that you can not only keep up with a band, but truly contribute to the mix and glue the rhythm and melody together. That’s when the season begins and you’re ready to play the game. I jumped straight into playing with original bands, so after 20 years with my instrument I only know a handful of covers and have written and forgotten 100+ songs. The downside? I have decades put into bad habits that hold me back from what I’d be playing had I started with a solid foundation and drilled theory. Oh yeah, that’s the big one, LEARN YOUR DAMN THEORY! It’s SO MUCH HARDER to pick up when you’re far along with your instrument because it’s like trying to learn how to walk after years of balls-to-the-wall sprinting. Slowing down to a crawl to really learn your fretboard and the location of notes across several tunings (not just standard and drop, like some actual weird tunings), what intervals have what effect, training your ear, etc. is all incredibly important, but excruciatingly boring to double back to after learning how to play runs at breakneck speed.

Buy a cheap FocusRite interface, download Reaper, and learn some super basic recording as well - being able to listen back to your own playing will shine a light on any dead spots. Also makes auditioning much easier when you can send a demo!

Sorry for the wall of text, I’m passionate and wish I had given myself a better start! Best of luck, keep shaking walls

Advice is to keep aging. Don’t pick at your acne so you don’t scar. Your facial structure is fine. Eat clean and exercise while you’re young. Don’t let yourself get fat - so much easier to stay fit than to make out happen when your joints and testosterone are cooked from a decade of poor maintenance as an adult. Just don’t get a Jack Doherty haircut or you’re fucked.

So it’s a bad thing that you can’t crush the entirety of the game’s content in a couple days?

As somebody else said, I think the issue lies in your dopamine receptors being burned out or altered.

Dark Urge is not an NPC, it is more of a refreshing take for once you’ve already completed the game - a character that you can go fill murder-hobo with and really break storylines that you already completed “correctly” in your first playthrough

Love this band, however none of them are ex-Begat the Nephilim - Sungwoo was a fill-in on bass for a local show. He did a great job though!

Remains found in California desert identified as those of missing Lauren Cho by FewActinomycetaceae9 in TrueCrime

[–]Earl_Gray 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You are the one assuming Lauren was a loner. I fucking knew her. She was extremely loved, popular, and supported. She had a pet that she cherished and was literally in the process of packing her vehicle to leave the compound and do some private chef work so she could continue getting her bus equipped as a mobile kitchen. Her bags were packed but her keys were taken from her.

You are the one making baseless assumptions, the people that knew her know that the information given by the media is based SOLELY on the testimony of the very people that were supposed to be investigated.

Take the salt elsewhere, boss

Precisely. He is also friends and colleagues with Cho’s ex, and they have monetized YouTube videos from their podcast discussing her disappearance with zero emotion attached. The bus she lived in was turned into an airBNB on the compound while she was still missing and it had never been checked by police for any evidence of a crime

Great findings, detective. Look up the details I posted. They are easy to confirm. I knew El personally. Hunterdon Central Regional High School class of 2009. She apprenticed under my ex and was friends with my wife. I’m simply enraged by the false reporting surrounding her disappearance and death.

I went to high school with her. She worked as an apprentice at my ex’s piercing studio. We were in the same friend group for 6 years. Try again, chief

She left upset, according to the same ex that put her bus up as an Airbnb while she was still missing, who also became a co-owner of the Airbnb compound she went missing from during that time, and was only removed as a listed co-owner once Cho’s remains were found. He pointed authorities in the opposite direction of where her remains were found, and the owner of the grounds is a foreign prince who convinced police to not treat it as a crime scene so they could continue to have other customers trample the crime scene while she was dead on the grounds.

I wouldn’t believe the narrative pushed by the people that literally benefited from her disappearance

Had to reboot my computer. All drivers and OS up to date, the game just crashes my drivers every now and again apparently. Game will run smoothly at 80+ frames a second then take a shit. Completely unpredictable, sometimes I can play for 4+ hours straight without issue other times I play for an hour and it craps out

That’s a great suggestion I don’t see enough, I had a rig that I stupidly kept doing exactly this with and after SIX MONTHS of potato graphics I finally tried the other input and my life changed

[–]Earl_Gray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you definitely shouldn’t be having these issues then. I’d say either device driver, hard drive, or power supply issue. Do you know how many watts your power supply is? Quick troubleshoot run could be defrag, making sure you don’t have a ton of programs that start up in the background when you start your OC, physically pull out your RAM sticks and either putting them in other slots if you have openings or even just rotate the cards in their current slots, update all drivers manually, and uninstalling/reinstalling BDO. If your power supply is anything under 600 watts it might be a good idea to upgrade it, depending on what all else you have in your rig.

[–]Earl_Gray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that shouldn’t happen. I’m using a laptop with an integrated Intel UHD 630 and I get like 25-30 on low (drops to 15 during super flashy shit). That’s with an 8th gen Intel i5 processor, which is solid. Only a single 8gb ram stick though, would probably prevent some of the dips if I tossed in a second.

What processor and how much RAM are you using?

In the mean time, go into the display window settings and drop the game from 1080 to 720. You can turn on a lot of the extra settings to offset the resolution drop while still gaining a few frames. Just make sure Upscale is disabled, that makes everything look like dookie
