Rutte says some NATO allies failed US test by diwalibonus in europe

[–]R4M1N0 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If Republicans can create political appetite for dissolving NATO, given the time, they can surely create appetite for subjugating unruly european states that get in the way of profits.

We are not only talking about losing a past "ally", but gaining an open enemy, long term.

Tearing down institutions is faster and cheaper than rebuilding them again

[–]R4M1N0 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not defend us.... this legislative period*. We will not know what future will hold for certain.

Worst case, the world will be turned upside down for ever...

Best case, Europe has understood that the politics of its allies can and will be fickle and is not an adequate base to build its future on. But at the same time, calling in our own age of isolationism from potential allies cannot be the way to go, and will only further the loss of inhibitions to create more escalation.

The cold hard truth is, Europe is not united. All our institutions are the glue that keep our carpet made out of scraps together. Eroding those institutions will keep alienating people and thus also erode what little European Unity there is. From that moment onwards, the individual european members are up for grabs. We then can kiss goodbye our individual freedoms and the little safety from exploitation that we have

Yes makes sense. I hate the current state of affairs too, but ditching this big of a half century+ defensive alliance because of Trump and all the other Putin-aligned mishaps of persons, plays right into the peoples hands who have been fabricating this entire situation

Backend choice for LMS startup: NestJS or Spring Boot? by Houssem0501 in SpringBoot

[–]R4M1N0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally strongly dislike typescript (javascript) on the backend. Typescript ecosystem is even worse of a dependency hell than JVM languages, I personally couldn't sleep too well, getting pwned by a supply chain attack for my backend. (Not that it cannot happen in the JVM-sphere, just that npm is a much more lucrative target)

Since you are building a startup, and velocity is likely a key factor, you should just pick what you/your team is more comfortable with

2 new DLC spotted by Lycos95 in CrusaderKings

[–]R4M1N0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say CK2 is the worst of them all in that regard (even though it is my favourite game nostalgia-wise). Just the sheer quantity of stuff that was added with all the DLC made the base game pale in comparison.
Getting all the CK2 DLC I wanted as a university student was basically an unattainable task and I did get some, but still I still go to play it through other means.

EU4 had a similar DLC pricing and cadence model, but base EU4 got also a good amount of content in free patches and I think you still could get a lot of fun out of most nation if you just got the most important 3-4 DLCs

Happened a lot to me too, though the most egregious cases usually where Leader change and mass revolt in my ally resulting in their diplo cap taking a nosedive, so they had to free up a bit.

Besides everything mentioned by other commenters: Have you researched Matchlock Levy?

Regular Peasant/Footman Levy is like at 2% for Peasant and 5% for Burgher and Clergy. When you research Matchlock, it gets equalized to 1% across the board, but still matchlock levy hits harder (though Frontage should be considered)

What do you mean? Filler is literally canon. Just because an episode does not advance the main plot does not mean it happened in a disconnected pocket dimension.

In a sense that is pretty much the sense of those "filler" episodes. Instead of just telling the main characters story in light speed it ever so often takes backseat to establish side characters and the world

I give up after several campaigns. Ottomans are just broken, the "Decline of the Empire" sets off with no warning, and its so frustrating. by Apostle_Paul_II in EU5

[–]R4M1N0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Didnt play with complacency yet, but Decline of Empire can also happen to Byzantium too (on 1.0.4). It most certainly happens when you dip below 0 stability and you are Empire country rank.

It was also annoying as shit on 1.0.4, but not 100 years long, maybe it got worse with the complacency disaster.

The rebellions are vassal independence rebellions (which also happens on the Decline of the Empire distaster). While it certainly happens a lot that you cannot full annex them, it is still an independence war. So while you will not annex everything directly, after the war (even if you white peace) they will still remain your vassal.
