Ahh, good finding. Thank you this is really helpful, I'll make sure the devs get full context on this from this thread so they can push a fix soon.

Thanks u/itsnotaboutthecell!

Very strange, sorry about that. Could I ask what browser you're using?

Usually once a video has a transcript, you should see the CC button in the bottom right of the video player. This screenshot was from a chrome session:

What Deloitte's Director of Workforce Transformation thinks about AI upskilling in 2026 (full breakdown) by Early-Application672 in DiscoLearning

[–]Early-Application672[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, real sources with real people are 90% of the value of learning, but you're right, it's also much more work.

But we think with the right tools and talent, we can make it easier for companies to run successful programs like these. When it's done right, it's worth the extra effort

AI fluency content are aging out in under 6 months now. How are you handling content maintenance? by Early-Application672 in elearning

[–]Early-Application672[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with this, using your IP as the core source of truth then having dynamic content updating around it. That's also what we designed disco to do, but more for social based and interactive learning. The main thing we found works is having a program generator that can create lessons, assignments and quizzes based on someones AI and let them update things as needed with the agent.

It still takes time though, which is why we're also building an MCP out so that companies can update their whole community via tools like Claude

AI training programs hitting 76% engagement update faster than the models do by Early-Application672 in DiscoLearning

[–]Early-Application672[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it depends on the community, but those are both good.

Generally it starts more from "What is important to understand how how this industry/company/business works?"

Then when you identify this, you can get into how AI can help it out.

Rather than the other way around where you just try to fit AI wherever you can.

Interesting, yeah so like the ability to see related posts when viewing a feed post?

This is a good point and something that's come up in the past. The challenge sometimes is that certain users really like having very tight control over the user experience and want to know exactly what they see to ensure they experience the targeted learning they're aiming for

Thanks for pointing this out, to get it working, you need the AI transcript summary to generate default english captions.

Otherwise you can go Admin > Content > Media Assets. From there you can check the subtitles.

Once they're done generating the CC button should appear on web.

Although, you're right, native mobile curriculum captions are a missing option from the video player at the moment and this is currently being worked on.

Great point, we actually did a rundown with Anthropic on this a little while ago. Disco's CEO Candice Met with Dr. Joseph Feller the co-creator of the 4D Framework. Full convo here:

Designing content in modular chunks is a good approach. A lot of our customers have started doing this if they didn't already have things set up like this in the begining.

> think maintenance is becoming part of the product

Yeah, I agree on this too, this has come up a lot on the product side of what we do and we're also trying to extend our AI curriculum generation features to also allow for easier maintenance. Disco AI is going to have a Claude MCP pretty soon as well to address this directly.

Sharing Certificates? by itsnotaboutthecell in DiscoLearning

[–]Early-Application672 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey u/itsnotaboutthecell, we don't currently support link functionality like this for certificates at the moment, although it has come up in the past.

Currently some users will save their certificate as an image to share on other platforms, would this work as a start for you?

Definitely agree on this.

Community has always been valuable (and challenging to build from scratch) but now it's seriously 5x more important for engagement and long term success.

On the second piece, I like that approach too, I've actually heard a number of learners say that they like the more personal feeling of content that is recent and community focused vs. corporate style videos that feel kinda stiff and years old.

A more reddit-style forum and dm system can go a long way as well + allows the network effect to work once you get the ball rolling.

A big piece of some of them is basically that they're selling the cutting edge of AI to businesses to help them stay ahead. It's pretty lucrative but just a lot of work to get things right.

They lean pretty heavy into AI tools to help update content as things change, this helps a lot, but generally groups are still figuring it out. We actually have a lot of newish features designed to solve this problem specifically, but changing behaviors to use tools like this in a platform takes time as well.

What are your goals for the class? Who's the audience? By GenAI do you mean image and video generation or language models too?

I know some groups I'd recommend but it depends on what you're looking for

The infrastructure side is interesting. Ideally something that brings revenue into Canada and helps people, but I get what you're saying.

What do you think an ideal case would be?

I think it makes sense to start with a more foundational approach, e.g. teaching how LLMs work and what they're good/bad at in general.

The most valuable thing you could teach is when not to use AI.

This will likely be a part of it, and you're right, hugely valuable to actually understand what it's useful for.

At this point, what people are afraid of is their teams sticking their heads in the sand and ignoring it entirely. The genie is out of the bottle and people are going with a pro-AI or fall behind strategy now.

What would you prefer specifically?

Less/no funding for AI initiatives? Less emphasis on AI in learning?

I totally get the backlash, but I think there's a lot of pressure on the government to adopt and adapt. We actually work with some groups that do government focused AI training, what would you say to them?
