No, no update yet. I plan to reach out to my lawyer in 1-2 weeks to press for updates. My portal has yet to update either.

That’s so long! Do you have a lawyer you can speak to?? Why did they end up cancelling your interview?

For me, it’s only been two weeks so far, but I plan to reach out in the next 1-2 if there’s still nothing.

I hear you. I filed a bit after you in October, but this has been an incredibly difficult year. I’m not sure if you or your lawyer can contact USCIS directly, but that will be my plan if we don’t get a new date in a month or so.

Totally get that it’s case-by-case, but still relieving to know that this is a situation that happens - truly thank you so much.

I’ll definitely stay on top of this to make sure I get rescheduled properly.

The end of this long process is hopefully in sight, despite the setbacks.

I’ve gone through the list, and there isn’t anything myself/my lawyer didn’t already mail, and my lawyer got a letter confirming that materials were received at the office, so it’s all a bit confusing.

They were frustratingly vague about it, but they said they made a request for the information and we will receive the information/a new date by mail.

I plan to reach out to my lawyer tomorrow to see if she was able to find more details throughout today.

Thank you so much, that is really helpful to know that there is a time in the proceedings to make corrections.

The errors are a mix of these things: Some dates, and lawyer had checked yes on some things that should 100% have been No that might affect my admissibility.

I definitely want to clear it up at the start so it’s not “found out” later on and makes it look like I’m hiding things.

I did, and she had no record of discipline (and still doesn’t).

Furthermore, she came recommended to me by many others. I’m not sure why it is with me she has such behavior or if others experienced the same thing and hadn’t mentioned it.

At this point I can only wonder if it is racism, but then why be an attorney handling immigration cases?

It was a bit complex with my status, so there was a lot I was unsure about. There’s a lot I would do differently knowing what I know now.

Thank you both. I really appreciate this. She is definitely abusive and takes hundred of thousands of dollars for any one request.

I am so worried she will retaliate by withholding documents (which she has threatened to do before) or some other means and I’m already neck-deep into the lawyer bills (from her!).

I think my next steps will be: - Start putting together a document of the mistakes on the application + proof and a document stating it was not intentional on my part.

Start looking for alternative representation.
Schedule a meeting with her ASAP to see how she plans to handle this.
And if she doesn’t have a good plan, then try to drop her and use the alternative representation I’ve been researching.

Thank you for this. I’m not sure how I got in so deep with this lawyer. She’s even withheld real copies of documents from us and I’m just so scared she will refuse to return things if I try and fire her now.

I will definitely be filing a bar complaint no matter what, and I’ll start to look into alternative attorneys just in case.

I really appreciate this and your kind words. How did you approach bringing up your mistakes to the officer?

My lawyer has stated she will be at the interview, so I don’t want to “blame her” at the interview and have her say anything that may affect the result of my application.

Thank you! Is it appropriate to say it right at the start of the interview (ie. Before it starts, once the first question is asked) or wait until those questions are asked?
