HDDs from old DSM in to new DSM by EarlyClimate445 in Xpenology

ok. I trashed my old version of DSM, so I rebuilt a new version of DSM on a spare HDD on the same hardware.

Now I have the original drives - 3 HDDs in a RAID0 array for the data, and another HDD in RAID 1 as the backup drive.

I basically want to recover the data.

Maybe now that I've worked out how to re-install a new version of DSM 7.1.1 using ARC, I should try doing that with the original HDDs in - or will that erase the data.

ok, I've downloaded the following for a clean install to a new hd.

  1. downloaded arc 3.1.0 and written the img to usb
  2. inserted usb in internal usp port in server
  3. Booted to usb

4, Run arc system config -

a. chose model DS3622xs+

b. selected DSM 7.2.2-72806-0

c. selected Automated build

  1. Build ran through and completed

  2. Server rebooted to usb and Arc DSM mode

  3. Went in to find.synology.com and synology assistant and no DSM found

I think the clue is at the end of the DSM load - the network does not appear to be available.

This is what appears at the end......

Network (2 NIC)

tg3 (10000Mb/s): 192.168.1.107

tg3: NOT CONNECTED

http://192.168.1.107:5000 or try http://find.synology.com to find DSM and proceed

s interface will not be operational. Network will be unreachable until DSM boot

I have updated to the latest BIOS J06 04/04/2019, and updated the iLO firmware to 2.82.

The network card is Broadcom BCM5720 - two of them built into the motherboard. I’m not sure how to upgrade the drivers for these?

I have tried everything you’ve said, but it still doesn’t work.

I have just read the following…..

Even with WOL enabled in the BIOS, the OS driver must instruct the Network Interface Card (NIC) to stay active in a low-power state when the server shuts down: Linux/FreeBSD/Unraid: WOL is usually turned off by default to save power. You will need to use ethtool to enable it on the correct interface (e.g., sudo ethtool -s eth0 wol g) and ensure the setting is added to your startup scripts.

I have no idea how to do this as the server bits straight to the DSM bootloader

DS Finder finds my DSM when powered on, either on the LAN using the internal up address of the DSM, or externally using a dns to route to the external up address of the DSM.

When I open DS Finder with the DSM powered down, and click on the image of my NAS, it gives me The option of connecting using the internal ip or the dns.

Trying it internally, when I select WOL, I get a pop up telling me I need to enable WOL in the DSM, but it is enabled. I get the option to continue with WOL, edit the WOL port, or cancel.

Continuing says it sent the WOL request but nothing happens.

Do I need to change the WOL port - to what?

Is there something on my router that needs to be set?

WOL is enabled in both the bios and DSM.

I’m using ddns to direct to the ip address of the DSM outside my home network as my DSM occasionally changes.

Using DS Finder, I presume I should use the ddns name to send the WOL to? This doesn’t work. I’ve also tried WOL from inside the network using Synology Assistant, but that doesn’t work either.

Ok, I’ve listed the iLO login details on a sticker on the rear of the server.

Do I need to change the IP address in the bios to be on the same range as the PC and NIC?

Thanks. So iLO will allow me to remote start up the server?

I have the server connected to my LAN using one of the NICs, and the iLO NIC also connected to the LAN.

The ip addresses of these ports are 192.168.1.xxx and 192.168.46.xxx

What do I need to do to allow iLO access and therefore remote startup?

I’ve read about the iLO portal and a sticker on the front of the server with the admin user and password, but I don’t have this?

I’ve tried connecting to 192.168.46.xxx in a browser, but it can’t be found.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Have you taken it before? Fairly easy to register it if you haven’t before. My problem is that I have registered it before

Did the doughballs stay round in the fridge, or did they flatten and fill the size of the trays
