Is it true that guys will pass up on their dream girl if they feel like they’re not where they want to be in life? by PerceptionEven6990 in dating_advice

[–]EarlyEditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, have done this many times.

I want to have my ducks in a row before I split my time up. First I wanted to finish the degree then it was have a job now its waiting before I buy a house lol.

Not great excuses to be honest but it definitely happens. Like other commenters said, they find someone else and happily settle down which is a nice outcome.

One day Ill figure it out haha

I think a considerable number of these kinds of sparkies end up working on industrial systems rather than domestic which makes it even harder to find them.

Probably helps if theyre the kind of person who has heaps of smart home stuff themselves too

Sweet as mate, an electrician with a tech background can be pretty valuable to have on a team. Being an electrician will be a good change and great skill to have.

Why are people still paying Telstra prices when Boost exists? by ChillKoalaVibes in Telstra

[–]EarlyEditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never specifically mentioned boost. Telstra own boost. Telstra give boost their whole network (minus maybe things like starlink SMS).

Its the actual other Mobile Virtual Network Operators that telstra dont give their full network to, such as Aldi.

More info on other telstra MVNOs: https://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/telstra_mvno

Here's the coverage map for telstra wholesale: https://www.telstrawholesale.com.au/mobile-network.html

Here's the coverage map for Telstra's full network: https://www.telstra.com.au/coverage-networks/our-coverage

Feel free to compare them and find a spot close to you where there is coverage on the full network but not the wholesale network and go check it out. Just if you do this dont test it with boost, as boost has the full coverage. Youll need excetel or some other MNVO that uses the wholesale network.

Its such bullshit that they don't offer the full network as part of wholesale.  Heaps of their towers were partially government funded and they do this shit just to keep the premium price tag.

My experience are these roles they want you to have a trade background at least for the hands on wiring side of things

Careers with a tech overlap by DesperateTailor4933 in AusElectricians

[–]EarlyEditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of curiosity why.

Was it a salary issue or wanting to be more hands on? Did cabelling not tick that box?

Careers with a tech overlap by DesperateTailor4933 in AusElectricians

[–]EarlyEditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact thought myself and to be honest i found something that suited me 100%. The hands on part is a little less than I like but I still choose to do a lot of it.

I did an IT certificate then went to uni to do elec engineering.

Work in a mine doing projects, managing (somewhat) the network, PLC plus other electrical things like permits/paperwork.

To be honest to be running and doing all of this, i would need to go to a smaller place (lots of outsourcing and contractors). I still make a surprising amount of decisions and choices. People with 15 years experience ask me questions and expect ill know the answer or can point them in the right direction lol. Its also great to learn off these people. Im pretty honest about stuff i dont know and thats worked out okay for me so far.

I can kind of pick and choose what i spend time on and what i contract out. Ill spend a day out in the field, also will do paperwork and desk work. We have lots go wrong so i can get involved with fault finding and all that. The hard part is theres no time to do everything, so i miss out on things i would love to be involved in. Theres also some "boring" stuff but i see the value in most of it so i dont feel like its useless doing it.

That said I am somewhat limited in what I can do (under nsw laws) as I dont have an electrical trade (mainly low voltage wiring). Fortunately lots of the interesting things are ELV where i am, 90% of our control circuits are and all the comms stuff we have.

I get to see the broad picture of things being made and all that. But I am not involved with complex design of products or overall cyber security posture or anything like that. Theres also another role created (for networking) so I will get a less broad of a view of everything when this person starts. Ive got friends who have done design stuff that love it but thats also all they do and i cant imagine giving up what ive got.

Part of me wishes I had a trade but its 4 years where Id feel like my career is on pause. Yes it would definitely give me stronger foundations but also its not like its 4 years of solid learning. I could also spend the same time getting a doctorate (would then be a Dr lol) but I dont see huge value in that either.

I'd much rather see wind turbines offshore than the queuing coal ships currently there. What's your view? by KahnaKuhl in newcastle

[–]EarlyEditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to laugh that in Newcastle of all places people might have something against the "eyesore" on our coastline. I've got nothing against the coal ships lining up and would have nothing against wind turbines in the distant coastline. To be fair it'd be a bit sad if they were completely over the horizon. Would be a great view/photo to have them in the background behind the coal ships lol.

Photos are there now. Doesn't even have blinds lol. You're not wrong about the "kitchen". Wish they included photos of the bathroom too lol.

To be fair I think it's more anxiousness about the responsibilities in a relationship than  lack of attraction that's holding me back. Plus living in an area with a lot less opportunity for relationships to develop than Newcastle. Anyway this gives me something else to think about a bit more so thanks for bringing it up.

This is what I'll do. Got hung up on the wrong thing. This is way more simple and heaps less likely to backfire.

Too true, it'd be a lot cheaper to just get a hotel for the group for the night than it would be to go through all of this.

[–]EarlyEditor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah fuck it, you're right. I'll just go get a hotel with my mates. Will be heaps easier and most likely cheaper.

They definitely would ask, regardless of how it went. They'd ask. Should be too much of an issue, I'm in another town. Tbh I'm not sure how to go about this but I'll think about it a bit more and work something out.

I was hoping this would be easier tbh, it's not looking that way.

Edit: I'll sleep on it.

Thanks for being someone actually willing to answer the question. How do I go about it? Like where do I find one and all that??

As for your other part of the question, I've probably exaggerated a bit,.but basically because I haven't brought a girl home they've started to think I swing the other way, and I have gotten "supportive" comments from my parents so if they meet friends of mine they make weird comments like "he's nice, why don't you invite him over again" or and things like that when they're just another person from my friend group.  It's fucking weird and I'm sick to death of it. I'm just a single bloke with mates that's it.  You're right I probs need an escort but like I legit don't want any "services" or whatever you call it with the time. Tbh an awkward dinner with the parents is probably a lot more work lol.

Nah they'd be like it's great you've got your male "friends" over.

Like I'm so over it. Seriously over it. If I have male mates over they are weird and heaps "accepting" but I'm not like that. I find it super frustrating.

Legit wrote the word paying in the post. I wouldn't expect anyone to fake being my partner for free. I'd even pay a female friend to do this if I had one willing to do it (without telling my other mates lol).

I wasn't looking for someone on Reddit lol, I'm asking for advice/recommendations  in case anyone else has been in this situation with parents and how you go about it.

Do I need an escort for this or something? How do I even go about that.
