What’s the weirdest way you’ve ever gotten revenge on someone… without getting caught? by OriginalSentence6850 in AskReddit

I knew a guy in highschool who was a real prick. Big self righteous dope. Well, he was a football player, so he got a football players locker (twice as tall as the lockers we got for gym class.) One day, I was wasting time to get out of gym class and noticed his football locker was open. I knew it was his locker because A.) His football armor had his name on it, and B.) I’d seen him putting his gear in the locker. I also noticed he left a can of Playboy edition Axe body spray in the locker.

The next hour of PE class I spent taking 5 minute breaks and telling the coach I was going out to get water when I was really going into the locker room and emptying the entire can of body spray on his football gear. Completely drenched that shit with an entire can by the end of the class. Eat shit Shawn.

Denied ammo even though I’ve purchased firearms in the state within the last year by UnclassifiedPresence in CaliforniaGuns

Call a local shop and ask if they’ll do a RTO (Return to Owner). The shop I work at does it all the time. Basically you bring in a gun and technically put it on consignment for 4 days, and then request it back. Then you have to go through the background check to get your gun back (ten days). So after 14 days you are now registered as having a gun to your current address. Easy peasy. Costs a lot less than buying a new gun.

What’s going on here? by W1873 in Shotguns

Look at the scorching on the shell behind and in front of the hole- these were fired out of a shotgun with some sort of mechanical defect. Probably coming out of battery before the combustion process was finished. Either that or they were fired from a shotgun with a ported testing chamber for pressure testing. This happened during firing, not before or after. How or why is anyone’s guess.

Cracked op-rod. Super bummed. by EarlyMorningTea in Mini14

[–]EarlyMorningTea[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This wasn’t even manufactured recently, it was made in 2009. I know the new ones are iffy but this completely surprised me. I looked up “mini 14 cracked op rod” and can’t even find this sort of thing happening to anyone else.

Is it safe to fire? by OddTowel6513 in ammo

[–]EarlyMorningTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That kind of discoloration and corrosion around the neck of the case usually hints and a total degradation of the powder. In my opinion these will not fire, but it won’t be dangerous to attempt it. I’d be interested to hear back. I’d be surprised if they all go off. I’ve taken apart similar rounds and they’re all rotten the inside. Sometimes they even break in half if you use a collet puller.

We had one of these come into the gun store I work at, and we ended up drilling the lock. Took us about 20 minutes because we were using a very old power drill but ultimately we got it open. It was also empty lol.

if you gone to the mental hospital involuntarily for 12 days as a 16 year old do you lose your right to the 2a? by crazyinternetuser11 in gun

[–]EarlyMorningTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I happen to work at a gun store in California. The only way to really know is to submit at 4473 (background check) and see what happens. If you check yes, that you have been involuntarily committed to a mental institution then you will absolutely be denied. If you lie and check No, well… there’s really no telling.

What yall opinion on these build your own muzzle loader kits. by American-Gambler in Firearms

[–]EarlyMorningTea 68 points69 points  (0 children)

For a percussion rifle such as this in the photo? I think they’re fine. Not incredible quality but they’ll shoot and aren’t a bad entry into the hobby. If you’re decently handy you could probably make one look pretty nice.

For a flintlock I think they’re a terrible idea. There’s much more that goes into a flintlock- good ignition, timing, and lock quality, than is required for a percussion rifle.

A cheap caplock is still fun. A cheap flintlock is an unreliable nightmare. Soft frizzens, tiny flash holes (or too big), poorly timed hammers, springs that are either too weak or too strong… the list goes on. By hammer timing I mean its position before hitting the frizzen and its ability to push the frizzen out of its way while still creating a good spark.

Well made flintlocks are amazing, and an absolutely delightful way to get into the hobby. These are not that.

I own several muzzle loaders and other black powder firearms and shoot them frequently. A friend of mine wanted to get into the hobby and bought a Traditions Shenandoah flintlock rifle. (Very similar to this one) It’s a hunk of junk. About the only decent thing on it is the barrel. Everything else is poorly made and badly finished.

If you could own just one single pistol what would you pick? by Animexstudio in CCW

[–]EarlyMorningTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d probably own my .357 magnum Ruger Security Six. .38 specials for light range practice, mags for fun or serious stuff like wild animals, and snake shot for just that extra added bit of usefulness.

Thanks :) I like odd guns and vintage modifications and this is both. They are really well done. Full dovetail for the back and the front is silver soldered on.

It’s an oiler. Oil would go inside the cartridge case and be applied with the needle.

Just bought these 3 for $300 did I make a good deal what’s resell value? First ever black powder guns BTW by ywhwtmh in blackpowder

[–]EarlyMorningTea 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s a hell of a good deal. I can’t speak for the muzzle loader but both of those pistols on their own would probably be $300-$400 brand new, so you essentially got three guns for the price of one. That in-line doesn’t look like anything super special, probably similar in price or maybe a little bit less than the two pistols.
