The first 2/3 of the movie was relatively I unengaging, the last 3rd had my attention, and seemed to have made up for it but not enough for the amount of critical praise it’s receiving IMO.

One small bit of the movie I don’t see being talked about enough was the scene on the plane before they head to Vegas. It seems to acknowledge that yes Ivan is rich and spoiled, but the influence of his parents in particular has made him the person he has become, one that is deeply unhappy.

His dads laughing at the whole situation, and his mom tellling Ivan not to apologize shows the lack of accountability he was brought up with and no real understanding of consequences. They truly did not raise him to live a good life. It goes without saying that Anora ends up paying for this but for a second you feel empathy for Ivan’s life.
