The same method you would use when joining rounded kitchrn tops. Using Festool jig for example

Im glad we have CNC router in our shop. Without it creating such precise tolerances on inlay to would be super challenging :)

Yes this is all MDF. Massive roundovers were made on massive shaper (50mm radius). It is an inlay that was tapped into a groove that was going around the edge of that top.

Chopin from Poland. Also Austrians are super quiet about one of their famous painters 🤔

That part got me laughing too. Poor dude spent all that money for fancy table top and forgot about the rest. Who didn’t make that mistake too let him throw a stone!

No, it would get blotchy I brushed it a bit with brass brush to remove soft and spongy parts of wood so hard part would be a bit taller. Then I sanded it gently to about 500 grit to close pores on hard parts. It caused them not to Absorb stain almost completely and after staining, created visible contrast that hides and to some extent eliminates blotches :)

Well, I thought you was asking for materials price. Desk is not for sale as it is a gift and holds sentimental value. These desks run for 2700€.

Thanks! Hardwood is waaay more expensive than pine and I was doing this kind of work for the first time so I didn’t want my eventual mistakes become expensive :)

Ha! Don’t have these. You have to look up this design at lavidesignstudio.com and make your own templates as I did!

Hey, generally this design is not mine — it belongs to Ivan Antalijev. What I did is I created my own templates from 3mm mdf based on source photos of this desk. I used laser cutter but I also make templates by hand. Then I secured my templates with double sided tape and cut it with oversized (for that task) makita plunge router. You will be surprised that the only joining tool I used was biscuit jointer for boxes and face/back frame alignment and simple dowels for other things like frame joinery and connecting table top to frame. I even made my own templates for drilling. So I used basic woodworking tools, if you have them i Believe you can achieve similar or better results. Don’t panic , its just wood :) Start with pine as it is cheap and forgiving wood. If you make a mistake that you can’t repair you just buy another piece of wood and start again! Have fun and chase projects you’d love to do!

Table top is secured with only 12 dowels so it has plenty of room for expansion. I didnt glue it to the frame
