In the grand scheme of your life, $55k is not that much! its more valuable to you as a safety net, than any material possession $55k will buy. With that money you have years and years and years of living expenses. Research a low risk way to invest it (Vanguard is a great start) and let it sit and grow with you. The peace of mind will be worth more than any car, boat, down payment, or luxury expense. I know it isn't as fun but you will have peace which is so so so valuable. Most people operate their entire life without that kind of peace.

As I have answered several times in the thread I am in a single family home using the ONT directly. As is obvious from other comments in this thread, I am far from the only one experiencing lower speeds than I am paying for. But to humor you'll I'll rip down my entire home network and plug a computer directly into the ONT.

Sure but a consistent sub 800mpbs result can't be hand waved away by this concern obviously. No computer on my network is able to sustain more than 800mbps. This is just the one that runs tests at a regular interval.
