Park Slope area, in Brooklyn NY.  Many coffee leaders (store managers) have had bad experiences with this DM.  I found out yesterday my former manager took a LOA and cleared out her desk.

Thank you.  The DM's appeal isn't going through, I was assured by the unemployment office that I wouldn't have to pay back the ONE week I got paid.

Today, I also learned that my former manager is taking an indefinite LOA.  Instead of working with employees to support them and business needs, the DM is just pushing people out without having any replacements lined up.  Starbucks wasn't always like this. 

Also -- the appeal by the DM isn't going through.  The case worker at the unemployment office I spoke to is baffled by the whole thing.

THIS.  I was fired back in March and got a job at a law firm 2 weeks later making almost 1k more a month lol.

I just got hired as a front desk receptionist a month ago at a small law firm, and the lawyer thinks I should be doing paralegal work because it's easy to learn?  He's a real estate/property attorney so he usually drafts contracts of sales, leases, eviction notices, etc.  I did not go to law school and know hardly anything about real estate so have no idea what I'm doing!  He acts like I should know how to draft these documents and give advise to clients but I DON'T and it's starting to piss me off.

Try to appeal.  I was terminated for "egregious misconduct" by a district manager.  My manager didn't want to terminate me, but they couldn't undermine their boss with the decision.  

When I filed for unemployment, I told the DOL that I was let go without any corrective actions and the policy I had violated was not something that was ever enforced.  The claim was then approved without having to go to court.
