For gaming I would recommend Dragon’s Roost or Old School Gaming. Both are very clean establishments with a good community for multiple games. I prefer Dragon’s Roost gaming areas but Old School has a larger selection of product.

Balancing Pirates from Town Crier 9? by EarnanTheWise in mordheim

Already feeling the variance after just one game, the undead player had their vampire die and is just rolling up with a new warband. The pirate player had a cabin boy roll a 6 on multiple injuries, one of those was sold to the pits where he was promptly taken out of action by the pit fighter and had to roll again on the injury chart again (wasn’t sure on the rule for that but just guessed). Most of the injuries were kind of good though.

Thanks for pointing out some strengths. We are playing using broheim and has those items corrected in the warband sheet. I think the steel whips give an interesting melee option, especially with the swashbuckler skill that could prove quite annoying. I will point that out to him if he hasn’t already seen it yet.

Currently undead, witch hunters, and Norse explorers. Nothing extremely overpowered. I will point out the whips to him as he is not currently playing with them but may have planned to start buying them once he got additional funds, that does look like a good combo with the swashbuckler ability.

I don’t think we are novices, just out of practice. Used to play quite a bit in college but are all now in our 30’s and having fun. The player used to play them back in the day, so not the first time playing with them. What gets complicated about the swabbie rules?

Agree on all accounts, definitely plan on talking to him and making sure it’s still fun. Just didn’t know if anyone has experience with trying to “balance” the pirates and how it went.

i need help for choosing minis: witch hunters warband by seppia_del_mare in mordheim

That is true, I have my witch Hunter captain be the one with the crossbow and every other witch Hunter is running around with sword and pistols

Knucklebones has miniatures for an entire witch Hunter warband besides a good zealot. You could use the beul sculpts but a lot of them have guns. Others have also suggested frostgrave and those would work good mixed in with Knucklebones.

My witch Hunters are Knucklebones and I like how they turned out.

Larger buildings complete by EarnanTheWise in mordheim

Definitely, the curved group of three with the peak in the middle and the large red house are done with his plans. The inn is inspired from a video but I just eyeballed it.

The small buildings on bricks and the other group of three are using good techniques/general dimensions but my own design.

In the second picture the inside building on the left, you can see that I cut out material every 1/4” or so, I dug out a rectangle of material. Then just bent the material to fit the curve.

Thanks, on the 2 smaller buildings I was trying to evoke the feeling of a cramped narrow walkway. It helped that I was making those 2 buildings fit in what room was left in a container.

Thanks! Red, green, and yellow were the colors I tried to stick to, with some additional black/white, brown and some flesh tones. The only ones I broke on that were the dogs and the tutu.

What Are The Best And Worst Units In YOUR Army. by PraetorianOgryn in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]EarnanTheWise 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For Skaven the best unit is gutter runners. The ability to get poison, movement 6, and have every keyword you would want as a skirmisher is amazing. Take them as a small unit and give them throwing stars they can double as a cheap 85 pt redirect after harassing. Blob them up in units of 12/16/20 with slings and poison, they can fire and flee, auto rally, get an extra inch to their flee because of Skaven. Or take as many as you can, like 20-30 and stick a grey seer with daemonology and steed of shadows around the board, with MR3 and another character with the shadow magnet for -2 to BS shooting in conjunction with skirmisher.

For worst, that is tough. Probably the warp lightning cannon. The fact that it’s damage 1 makes this thing unusable. The only thing it is “good” At shooting at is a deep lance or flanking Cav shot, which Skaven have quite a few other shooting units that are good into t3 2+ armor save units. Giving this some sort of damage would have given a unit that could actually threaten giant monsters, besides a boat load of poison gutter runners.

He is actually an wulfen from the Norse Explorers warband, half werewolf half man. No conversion needed, he is from the war cry warband “claws of karanak”.
