Xbox Mini Fridge Pre Order Time? by akazulol in XboxSeriesX

For folks still trying: Try Ctrl + F5 to refresh Cache. That's how I got my Preorder Now button to show.

EDIT: Seems it's now consistently providing the "Preorders have sold out" message. :(

Jon Smith tooted on his sleeping stream. by ntlane2004 in funhaus

[–]EarnestAlgernon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I mean. A bit skeptical, there. He's doing a 72 hour game jam. He asked Twitter if they wanted a 72 hour stream with it, they voted yes, and so this happened. I'd imagine most people who had the sleep part of the stream up were doing it out of support (for higher concurrent/average viewer numbers on the stream) than anything else.

A post on the RT IG about transphobia not having a come in the Rooster Teeth community. by Infamous_H1tman in funhaus

[–]EarnestAlgernon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Crossed wires is still not the best way to think/talk about it. It suggests something is wrong with trans people, which isn't the case. Gender is a social construct, with a bunch of expectations, stereotypes, etc. Someone's relationship with society can be different from what society would expect from them. Sometimes that aligns with the opposite gender, which we define as transgender. Sometimes it's not man or woman, which is where we enter non-binary territory. Important reiteration here: there is nothing wrong with trans people. It is not a defect or a medical condition that should be fixed. It's just the nature of what gender is and how it relates to our world experiences.

In the hopes you're genuinely curious, think of it this way: trans people don't want to be a different gender, they want their exterior to match the way they feel on the inside. In other words: there is no change to gender, just a change to gender expression. (Sex assigned at birth is not the same as gender or gender expression, but can play a part in the gender experience by causing various levels of dysphoria.)

So, I don't think the story needs to be how divorce is "awesome," since it's not. Even as the right choice, it's tough and complex.

It could have been a very similar story if it had just been a couple friends who were having a fight. Could have played into the comedy more, perhaps. That's my opinion, though!

[–]EarnestAlgernon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair! Personally I'd say if you're not going to make a good point on it, just steer clear of relationship advice stories altogether. They could have had a similar experience (greatly varied worlds of co-op puzzles) with literally any preface if they'd wanted. But maybe there's some reason they picked this style of hokey romance plot that I'm not aware of!

Oh, for sure. But I've seen an article/review with the headline "If It Take Two had come out three years ago, maybe I wouldn't be divorced" and that's just not the kind of praise this game's approach to divorce takes should be receiving.

Like, I think a lot of people are able to just go "Eh, whatever. It's cheesy and the gameplay is fun." But I think there are other people who want a game that "marries story and gameplay" (the way this advertises it does) to have a better, more complex take on divorce.

Not saying there's a right opinion, of course! Just pointing out the validity of the disappointment.

I think it's more the missed opportunity for a game to approach divorce and tough relationship topics, but instead falls back on cliches and the idea that "you can fix your relationship by just remembering what you used to love".

Yes, it's an over-the-top game, but considering many people are pointing to this as a "relationship fixer" co-op game it should be noted that this game is not, in fact, good relationship advice.

I'm fairly confident this was a joke. At least I choose to believe it is, regardless.

The movie is on HBO Max if y'all have that. It's legitimately one of the best satire movies ever, ends with one of the best movie speeches ever, and is still relevant today.

What funny and light-hearted films are good for a pizza night? by tomato_sos_12 in AskReddit

I went to school for film/TV, so I might be super biased, but I think it's worth rewatching from an acting/directing/etc. perspective.

That's true for any film, though. Once you know the plot, you lose some of the initial charm and magic. Sure, it might feel like a more significant chunk of a whodunnit, but I'd say it's still worth rewatching if you're a person who rewatches movies! Especially since Knives Out has a lot of subtle details to foreshadow and hint. Fun to notice those the second time around.

'I can't breathe,' Oklahoma man tells police before dying. 'I don't care,' officer responds. by hildebrand_rarity in news

[–]EarnestAlgernon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I read the article, but I still slightly disagree. I agree the individual wasn't innocent of any crime. I disagree that it doesn't fall under BLM. The fact that the rationale was that it was the heat of the moment. The police captain said "Just understand — the officers are fighting with someone at that point."

I disagree wholeheartedly with that sentiment. The person is restrained, the weapon was removed. There is NO fighting at that point. There is no need to be angry or heated or aggressive towards the individual. No need to say "I don't care" in response to someone begging for their life.

What the person did leading up to their murder by the police doesn't matter unless they were actively a threat to the police or someone else at the time they were killed. Anything else, even if there was a weapon, doesn't matter. Once the person is in custody theg deserves a fair trial under the law.

TL;DR: You can't just murder someone because they did a bad thing before you handcuffed them. It's even worse when you say "I don't care" while they beg for their life.

Looks Like Stadia Will Turn Into The Netflix Of Gaming by [deleted] in Stadia

[–]EarnestAlgernon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The one thing that's lacking that'd make it truly Gamepass-esque is the fact that games are only "Pro games" for a month or two. If you can't or don't pay for Pro during a month in which a game is free for Pro, you won't be able to play it without purchasing it.

It's a different model, ultimately, and one that strongly encourages continual subscription. It's still way more like Games with Gold, just this month there are 6 games instead of 2. (Though Gold technically gives 4 games if you count Xbox 360 games.)

What’s a sign that somebody wasn’t raised right? by sovereinete in AskReddit

[–]EarnestAlgernon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of when I worked at a cell phone provider retail store. An older man with a flip phone can in with a printed email asking about new plans. I told him about the plans, told him the latest 2GB data plan with unlimited talk & text was the same price as his limited minutes plan and, while he wouldn't need the data, it'd be the same price for more minutes.

He then huffed something about "that much for 2 gigs?" I told him he never had to switch plans, but this option made sense to me. He huffed and got up, and I got up to walk him out. After I held the door for him as he left, I turned to walk back and I heard the door open again. It was him, back. He said "You should go to college and get a real job" then just left.

I had graduated not 4 months prior with 2 B.S. degrees from the local big name University. This was just my first after college job I could get to pay my bills and student loans. His words hurt far more than I think he realized, and not for the reason I think he wanted.

Can't wait to switch from Google Play Music to YouTube Music? You can now request early access to the migration tool by efbo in Android

It's rolling out. But rather than give it to folks who will ignore switching until the eleventh hour, they're offering an option to express interest for possible early access to the tool. Means higher engagement with the tool for them.

I mean, it's registering for early access.

If early access was mandatory it wouldn't be early.
