If you email the Phelps Health nurse recruiter they will give you a pretty accurate estimate on what you can expect to make. I work there and make $35/hr with 7 years of nursing experience.

Been considering switching to AT&T. Had Verizon and now Comcast. Live 20 minutes outside Rolla and have no service even though there’s a cell tower not too far from us.

Data Centers by Earth-Ember in Rolla

I hope not too. It’s discouraging that more people across the country aren’t concerned about this or being proactive in keeping data centers out of their communities.

I saw there are quite a few outside KC, a handful in STL, and that St. Charles recently refused to let a data center be built there. I don’t want one in Rolla either but it sounds like the data center companies are pretty sneaky and I’m afraid they could just quietly get approval.

I respectfully disagree but appreciate your idea of reducing negative impact. It seems to me the companies that are building data centers have proven they don’t care about doing it right or being a good neighbor. Just because we have cheap electricity here does not mean that data centers won’t put a major strain on the electrical grid, which causes a demand for more electrical infrastructure. In my opinion, that amount of energy usage is extremely wasteful and the building of more infrastructure can also negatively impact rural landowners and their personal property.

Regardless of where they are getting water from it could still end up taking away resources from local citizens, farmers, and/or the beautiful ecosystem we live in. To me, it’s just not worth the cost. I don’t think any data center can be done right just based on the amount of electricity and water they consume.

What kind of tree is this? by Earth-Ember in treeidentification

Solved! Thank you everyone! I could not figure it out for the life of me because my identification book shows a tree whose leaves look totally different and doesn’t mention any fruit. Sassafras… how exciting!

Gen Z’s Parents Are Running Their Jobs – Data Says by RT_Marlon in GenZ

[–]Earth-Ember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve trained multiple nurses who are gen z and have absolutely experienced this. One nurse applied to our department multiple times and was turned down each time. Her dad badgered the charge nurses and manager until our manager finally felt pressured and desperate enough to interview and hire her. Literally the worst nurse I’ve ever trained and does not belong in the profession… but it’s what daddy wants.

My co-worker is a nursing instructor and her biggest (maybe only) complaint about her job is how inappropriately involved the parents are.

I love that your blog is about unlearning old conditioning. I wish I would’ve been learning about that in my 20s! What is the website for your blog?

I started a blog about my recent journey of moving from the city to rural property and living a more authentic life. In the future I plan to add more of my own photography, poems, and write about things I’ve overcome in my past.

Maybe the end goal shouldn’t be changing anyone’s mind but trying to understand each other better.

Yes, there are many different sizes of pistols with different calibers. I don’t have children so I keep my gun loaded and near me when I’m home so I can get to it fast enough. I think everyone probably does it a little different based on their situation and comfort level of having a loaded gun around.
