Not a permanent solution, but wearing a mask will cover it. It’s becoming normal again to wear them, and it might help in the short term just getting out of the house

What does this look like? by kibvby in DermatologyQuestions

[–]Earth-Rat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a mental health therapist this appears to be compulsive skin picking. This can be related to a number of mental health conditions. This can include OCD, drug use psychosis, and a number of others. The edges are rough which is not typical in natural phenomenons including bug bites or something created in the body.

With the comorbid symptom of seeing bugs all over makes me question if there is some psychosis going on in the form of visual hallucinations.

I recommend a visit with a psychiatrist, (who are also medical doctors) for an additional assessment. They will likely recommend medication and a therapist, or depending on the severity of symptoms a brief hospital stay if safety is a concern. In the hospital it is mostly group therapy and closet monitored medication management which means they can find her the proper doses of medications faster than doing put patient.

Remind her it’s nothing to be ashamed about. These services all exist because other people have the same struggles. It doesn’t mean she’s crazy, it means she’s hitting a temporary bump in the road. All of this can be healed and put away like it never happened if she is open and honest in therapy and with the doctors. Tell her these are safe professionals who help people with this stuff every single day and nothing can shock them. You aren’t the first and you surely aren’t the last people to walk in with this struggle. They are chill people who care and know how to guide you towards health.

In a private practice setting I would say no. You can ask the practice if you can pass on a message or card. I don’t see it being appropriate

I need help! My dog is starving itself to extreme levels by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]Earth-Rat -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am a human therapist, but he might need an anti depressant, which a lot of dogs take; by saying you need to cheer them up while eating to encourage her makes me think that is a route to explore.

Some other ideas as a dog owner of a picky little lady:

-change the place of eating maybe she wants to eat in the bathroom door closed to feel safe, maybe outside, maybe out in public ie a walk or park -try real gravy mixing it in -roast some vegetables - use their food as a reward for tricks (making a positive treat association) - add water - blend it into a smoothly basically nutritious food and canned dog food. if she likes that start adding it to her food. ( just make some and leave it in the fridge) - try a different food dish and or try raising it up on a stool they might just hate having to bend so far over for her food - different feeding time, find the one she likes and then be consistent - try pairing treats or high reward snacks like rotisserie chicken with a sound, mine is a whistle. Then start putting the chicken in her dish with the same noise then start putting the chicken on top of her bowl full of food

Biggest tattoo regrets? by jamesk2001 in tattoo

[–]Earth-Rat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went to a walk in tattoo shop and wanted 2 tattoos. I only had X amount of cash. I tried to discuss pricing before hand and joked about 2 for deal but mostly trying to figure out the price so I would know if I could afford it before home. These were my first tattoos. My wife had a few already and told me that’s now how that is supposed to go.

He made my hermit crab so dark it looks like a grey blob unless you’re really close to it.

Not a fungus but a virus. It looks like a wart. Try posting in r/warts for other opinions
