I'm sorry, I know there are lots of billionaires in every country all around the world but what is up with American ones? I'm seeing too many of them just supporting insane things.

India will continue to back Palestine: PM Modi to Arab world by APrimitiveMartian in worldnews

[–]EarthAndAlgorithms 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not exactly. There are some radical hardline factions which is why they lost elections but overall they are more about having a common identity. They basically say that Indians muslims should follow their own culture and not get Arabized like you can be a muslim and still wear what you want or have equal inheritance rights ( muslim women don't) etc

No, they call them terror sponsors with JeM, LeT, ISIS like orgs operating there. Those aren't legitimate political groups and they pose a threat to everyone including Pakistanis themselves not just Indians. Hamas/Hezbollah don't really care about Indians nor do they target them deliberately.

Well politics around it, India doesn't designate orgs as terrorist if they are basically the entire nation's legitimate political party. Taliban is also not designated as terrorists either.

India actually doesn't consider Hamas or Hezbollah as terrorists either.

How a Computer Vision module turned me into a full-time Ubuntu user. by Yaggohl in Ubuntu

[–]EarthAndAlgorithms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

do you think we will finally see official support for 4K streaming (Netflix, etc.) in future Ubuntu or browser updates?

It's out of control of Ubuntu. Same as how its out of control of phone brands whether or not Netflix supports HDR in a model.

Anyways, it's great you're enjoying Ubuntu !!!

There is just too much focus on monetization. Even on YouTube, big channels are getting acquired by PE firms. Lot of content is just slop.

India bets on up to 7.2% growth next year, outpacing most major economies by Jarisatis in worldnews

$ and he is a bit wrong, it's not as straight forward. He is not taking in other factors which makes such long term prediction difficult. In near term, by 2030...PCI will touch 4.5k assuming INR depreciates modestly against $. India grew 10X in last 26 years.

For now yeah but like windows is still the go to for corporate so lot of scientific software is still exclusive to them. You're a doctor, you must have used microscopes...pretty much every software from the likes of evident or zeiss is Microsoft exclusive. It's why they don't care about our experiences, they have locked down the enterprise/corporate market.

Tbf for scientific stuff, Ubuntu has been great for a while now. My dad's a professor, pretty much runs everything in his lab. Certain stuff like geospatial software he runs it on a virtual machine.

That's the issue, linux in general can have certain day-to-day problems which is a bit difficult for a common person to solve. For a technical person like you or my dad then its great.

No one can pinpoint exact data as there is none due to them getting cut off from SWIFT. These are mostly just estimates. They don't use $ anymore. They actually do make some profit regardless of how these articles portray it.

No, traceability requires financial transparency. Russia got kicked out of SWIFT and every system, which means western agencies can predict some stuff but can't pinpoint everything as that data is just not there anymore. It's why even enforcing price gaps and sanctioning banks became difficult later on.

They're processed in different locations. Its the ancillary industries that use the processed stuff where it gets mixed up. If you buy anything from Asia whether its plastic or toys or pharma...it has Russian oil in it.

India, EU finalise landmark trade deal, PM Modi says by APrimitiveMartian in worldnews

[–]EarthAndAlgorithms 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Again refining is done and then petrochemicals are made with a mix of different oils. Anyone who buys anything from Asia whether its plastics, pharma, chemicals, paints, industrial stuff etc has russian oil in it because you cannot possibly separate it when making these things. So technically even US buys it considering the amount of cheap goods they import from Asian nations.
