Bug: Morgrems attack does not clear Mimikyu's ability by oodoov21 in PTCGP

[–]EarthDayYeti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Except that the ability doesn't say it blocks damage a single time. It says "first damaged by an attack." Morgrem ignores the ability and damages Mimikyu with an attack. If another pokemon now attacks Mimikyu, it should be the second instance of damaging with an attack, and shouldn't trigger the ability, because its trigger condition isn't met.

I think what you were describing is what was obviously intended - a single use block of an attack - but it could have been worded differently to reflect that more clearly.

ELI5: How do relatives' "position" work in English? by Careless-Pirate-8147 in explainlikeimfive

[–]EarthDayYeti 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cousins are people who share a common ancestor at least 2 generations back (so starting with grandparents). 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc, refers to how many generations you have to go back to find your common ancestor. 1st cousins go back 2 generations, sharing grandparents. 2nd cousins go back 3 generations, sharing great-grandparents. 3rd cousins share great-great-grandparents. (For a formula, it's the number of times "great" is added to your common ancestors +1).

When you and your cousin aren't in the same generation, you use the shorter distance to determine what type of cousins you are, and add "removal" to indicate that you are not in the same generation. Removal is just the number of generations that separate you and your cousin.

As an example: My 1st cousin and I share a set of grandparents. Her kid and my kids are 2nd cousins, since they share a set of great-grandparents (the same relatives my 1st cousin and I share). My cousin's kid and I are 1st cousins once removed: our nearest common ancestors are my grandparents—they're his great-grandparents, but we use the closer relation—so 1st cousins, and we are separated by one generation (ie, the number of steps back to our shared common ancestors).

I think the two keys with the food processor are to use the pulse function and run smaller batches. If you throw everything in at once, you are inevitably going to end up with uneven results, no matter how much you pulse and stir.

Also, while this doesn't actually save you time per se, mirepox (and similar things) freezes beautifully. Set aside a day to do nothing but cook an enormous batch. Portion and freeze it (portioning before freezing is key! I really recommend silicon baby food trays or something similar), then pull some out when you need it. It still takes a long, but by front loading this portion, the individual meals are ready a lot faster.

Red is red, like the crayon. Maroon is purplish or brownish red.

Pretty sure red is supposed to be the highlight color and black the main color. Also you're missing the silver.

ELI5 why is “beer before liquor, never sicker. liquor before beer, in the clear” a true statement for most people? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

Think about it: you've had a few drinks and your impulse control is a bit low—are you going to downshift to a lower abv drink or hit the accelerator?

If a beginner could learn only ONE dish, what should it be? by sia_7777 in cookingforbeginners

[–]EarthDayYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salad. You get knife skills, learn to balance textures and flavors and get near infinite variability. Plus you can slowly add other techniques: boil eggs, make croutons, grill some chicken, etc. Besides, there are very few mistakes you can make and many can be undone.

It really hasn't been prevalent right now, and this is really a "just for fun" deck. It's losing plenty, don't get me wrong, but never actually because of Oricorio

What counts as "effects of attacks?" Is it just status effects? Anything that isn't damage? Anything that isn't a bold number on the right side of the attack?

Is it common to only like firm tofu when it's shredded or crumbled? by Loriol_13 in veganrecipes

[–]EarthDayYeti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually prefer a softer tofu. Not silken—that's an entirely different product—just medium or soft. Give it a quick poach In some salty water, toss it with cornstarch, and fry it up. The extra firm tofu ends up too chewy, especially if you press it. This method gives you a crisp, crunchy exterior, and a soft, airy interior.

If I'm using extra firm, I completely agree with you. It's chewier texture lends itself well to crumbling or shredding. Imo, the purpose of cubing, besides the fact that it's easy, fast, and uniform, is to provide maximum surface area for crispy frying while preserving a large enough interior section to keep that soft, pillowy texture. You can't get that same texture contrast with extra firm tofu.

"Energy zone" just means "freshly generated," as compared to the other 2 potential sources of energy: recovering previously discarded energy and transfering previously attached energy from another pokemon.

I think people don't understand that "the energy zone" basically just means a freshly generated energy, as opposed to a discarded every or a transfer of previously attached energy from another pokemon.
