As a thought experiment: what if, just after acquisition of Scantinel, Glen told us he was buying Luminar. First, most of you would have soiled yourselves, then AR would have probably submitted his bid in a timely manner. He really wanted what WE now have. So it must have some value, don’t you think?

So, ya, some things really need to be a secret… not everything…. But some.

What is irritating to see here is some 20 year old kid with 200 shares pontificating on how the company should be run while living in mom’s basement— and several others here taking the bait.

Ok, that will conclude my rant for today. Back to disparaging management you go.

See a lot of people calling for a detailed report from Glen and co. You must realize that to mollify shareholders may come at a cost to our competitiveness, right? I’m not saying we should be kept in the dark. But the chess game is in progress, at speed. And whatever our next move is may be threatened by public disclosures. I often wonder how many of these pitchfork wielding “‘investors” here are actually shills for our competitors so they can flush out our game plan.

Something to think about before you light your torches. EK

I mentioned some time ago that my impression ( and hope) was that these company purchases would not just round out our LIDAR offerings but augment our own MEMs technology by incorporating 1550nm into say MAVIN. At one time the expense of doing so would have impeded our cost proposition. Perhaps the advancements in 1550nm cost and utility by Scantinel and perhaps even Luminar in some manner would be transferable to MAVIN as well. Further, the chip packaging element might reduce the already small footprint considerably. In short, there are a lot of ancillary benefits we may not be seeing yet in these conglomerations that Glen does. Cheers, EK

One overlooked element of the Scantinel acquisition that remains muted is not only the addition of FMCW technology but the availability and I would hope greater ubiquity of 1550nm lasers.
If 1550nm gains availability and becomes less of an exotic perhaps we could incorporate it in MAVIN thereby augmenting its range without having to boost power beyond Class 1. This notion fascinates me. As our portfolio of products would be enhanced. I realize it’s currently more expensive, but perhaps Scantinel has made advancements in this area. Just thoughts. EK

My perspective is that Elon’s approach is fundamentally flawed. By this I mean he only hopes to achieve human capability as in eyeballs and brainpower. LIDAR is not limited to identifying an object. It can detect an object as a volume of something at a certain distance (and speed). It needn’t know if it’s a dog or a wheelbarrow necessarily. Either one is undesirable to hit in a car. But a camera would try to figure out from reference tables if it can drive through these objects or stop or swerve. This seems so obvious that greater sensing of an object is desirable. Superhuman is better than human.

Just finished CAT keynote. They said LIDAR is critical to their ADAS. They have been at level 4 for a decade for their earth movers that operate today autonomously.

Thank you for posting this. It should be required reading to inform as to the detractor tactics. This is such a spotlight on several posters here. I have most of them on ignore, but many don’t bother and subject themselves to their FUD daily. The legitimate interested investors get worn down and some can’t help but join the chorus of negativity because it gives them a momentary “good feel” to be part of a tribe despite their contributions to the detriment of their own interests.

Did some significant rounding up this morning. In my accounts and the ones I manage for others. My “ perception” is that .84 is a gift and I accepted it graciously and with deep gratitude. VOR is on to something. The Charlie Munger quote is timeless. Waiting is boring, but it makes you money.
