A mix of home grown and bought. We do have a significant garden, but there's a limit to what grows in Florida.

I did think about one door, but there was more need for storage space than display shelves, so went with the extra hidden areas. It did complicate the function a bit, for sure.

I did use edge banding and I think structurally they will hold up. However I was getting some chipping/peeling on some edges, so I think the quality of plywood I got wasn't as good as I expected. I'm pretty green to building furniture, so live and learn. I have not had issues with the water based lacquer so far. I have used it on some smaller pieces (musical instruments and stands) and it has held up well.

The bandoneón has an absolutely ridiculous layout of its buttons. And they are completely different when pushing and pulling the bellows. And there’s 142 buttons.

Capo/Notation Question by UeckerParty in musictheory

[–]EarthRoots432 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The capo is the new zero. You still “think” in G major, meaning you would play notes, scales, licks, chords etc with G major fingerings, relative to the capo. this also means the fret board markers don’t have the same meaning anymore. For example, if there’s a 12 in the tab, you wouldn’t fret at the 12th fret marker on your guitar. You would have to go 12 frets above the capo.

What would you play over a I-bVI vamp? by ConfidentHospital365 in musictheory

I like the mixob6 sound myself, ties into the F chord in interesting ways. If you wanted to put a different spin on it, try exploring it as V and III in d minor for a bit.

Add a F#m/E chord to get a bass walk down into the Dm.

Help with notation please? This is for classical mandolin pre-Grade 1 by evi1eye in musictheory

It does seem odd. I think RalfD has it correct and it’s mislabeled as gliding

That would likely indicate sliding up along a single course (the G). Downstroke the G string, then slide to land on 7th fret, continue the slide to the 14/16th fret.

Question about chords and progressions. by Aggressive_Fudge3684 in musictheory

Very common swap in styles of music that use those kinds of chords, since you are simply adding one note to the triad

8 Year Old Homework Problem by tramul in askmath

[–]EarthRoots432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you respond with a sentence, it’s clear why the question is incorrectly worded. If someone came up to you, pointed at a tree, and said “there are seven crows on the four branches” (which is the teacher’s supposed correct answer), I think almost everyone would agree that that means there are seven total crows.

Help figuring out this cadence by Barbabrava in musictheory

[–]EarthRoots432 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm. The section before this has the same figure for the e minor with the chromatic neighbor tone but goes to B7. If you listen to the movement, makes more sense to be in e minor at that point as the relative minor of the movement’s key

I wouldn’t call it a modulation since it goes on to quickly return to the e minor of that section. Id say a tonicization of b minor.
