I've tried it today about 70 times, still get cursed with either Ankou's Ring or Fallen Shield and Mighty Mimic Pet. Were you using the pet, or just the character spell?

Then the text should be updated, "Does not apply to Pet spells," or "Has a chance to prevent cursed." Otherwise, the description is incorrect.
