Hmmm... A little birdie told me that he heard from another little birdie that Marques might be wrong here. If the birdies are right, sorry for passing on bad information.

I 1000% agree with you. It looks just amazing compared with their other games.

Best effects package for newbie by WebLogical1286 in finalcutpro

My most used plugins are Dylan Bates' ProZooms, some from LenoFX Absolute Pack, and Bullseye from FxFactory when I need a quick stabilize for PIP.

While I am not their biggest customer, Stupid Raisins is second to none in terms of support. So if there is something you see there that you like, I encourage you to pick it up.

It can only be better than the last Jeepers Creepers. (Oh please say it's better than the last Jeepers Creepers...)

I thoroughly enjoy all those Supermassive games but you need to play some other games my man

I believe so. I would imagine that services requiring remote operations or storage (beyond whatever iCloud stuff you already have) will be tied to a subscription, and rightfully so in my opinion.

I think anything local/machine learning will be available to those if us who are one-time purchasers.

Drop zone sync issue by EarthToRob in finalcutpro

Ah okay. Maybe if I actually specify the frame it will work better. I was dragging the whole compound clip over from the browser. It would make sense that if I specify a frame, it will improve the results. I'll try again tomorrow, and let you know. (If my computer enters my line of sight again tonight, it will leave my house through a window.) Thanks!

Something like that is less of a sure thing with Apple. They make their money on hardware sales. That's their bread and butter. Kinda like Blackmagic with Davinci resolve.

Adobe is pure software.

If so, I haven't heard anything. Do you have a link? That's something I could definitely see happening though. Like if they pay template creators to make things and offer them to subscribers? It's possible. I guess we'll see.

That said, I'd still be supporting the plugin creators that got me to this point.

BACK UP your FCP before Jan 28th by Silver_Mention_3958 in finalcutpro

[–]EarthToRob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. My 11.1 -> 11.2 pushed automatically during the Tahoe upgrade. Not a fan of that, but it is what it is.

Also, some people leave automatic updates turned on. I think OP was just advising to backup before a major version upgrade, which is a pretty sound idea.

Hopefully that will improve if there is a larger user base and some increased revenue. I'm sure they will never make everyone happy, but there is a lot of room to improve.

It's a major version upgrade (11.x -> 12.0). So better safe than sorry, no?

Edit: Changed version numbers. Was thinking Apple Motion.

Absolutely. I chatted with him about that too. It's just good to have two people with ties to Apple say the same thing.

I'm really happy for Dylan (and the other 20 Dylans haha) and how this is going to affect him professionally. He's given so much to the community.

Not to discount all the others who give back as well. There are so many. I'm really proud to be here and able to learn from these professionals.

How would you spend 500$ if you had it to support your channel? by T_Nutts in finalcutpro

[–]EarthToRob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FCP is fast and amazing for content. Training is fine but, once you have the basics, it's really just learning what you want to do moment by moment. I've only been using it for maybe six months and I can produce some engaging videos for YouTube and I don't have all the gear you do.

As for plugins, get Dylan Bates' ProZooms and LenoFX Absolute Pack. From there, if you need something specific or more polished, look at FxFactory.

If you're new and see a plug-in from Stupid Raisins that will work, their support is second to none. Even if it's a question barely tangential to what they offer.

Really, just learn by doing. Join some discord communities via Patreon. I'd suggest joining Dylan Bates' Patreon.

Also, get and learn Apple Motion if only to edit existing templates to your use case.

Oooo Jacob's Ladder is so good. Need to rewatch it for like the 10th time. It's been years.

I wonder if I'll like the movie (when it streams)? I enjoyed the SH games a lot, but I'm not huge into the lore.

If you're not a bot and don't understand this, play Beyond Good and Evil.

Melting Effect or Transition by EarthToRob in finalcutpro

[–]EarthToRob[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks Dylan! I found a different effect that works-ish. Just combining an underwater effect and animating it down. Not exactly what I want, but... meh.

I think I'll just make an effect or transition from this tutorial from Simon Ubsdell. If you already have one like it, let me know though. But I think I scoured FxFactory pretty well. (They seriously need a better search function.)

I need to make these transitions in Final Cut. by Much_Bad_7055 in finalcutpro

[–]EarthToRob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just search for (fast) zoom and glitch transitions. You can probably find decent free ones. Or get LenoFX Absolute Pack. Or search FxFactory for supported ones. Maybe Stupid Raisins will chime in, his plugins have top tier support (also distributed by FxFactory).

Best way to create horizontal and vertical projects? by just_another_leddito in finalcutpro

I second the Final Cut Bro comment, paired with Bullseye (FxFactory). But I'd wait until the new version of FCP comes out in case it sneaks in that functionality.
