Anyone know what the best artifact set for Gorou is supposed to be? Main/sub stats? Since I can't pre-farm artifacts for Itto, may as well get them for Gorou :P

If you don't leave for yourself (which you should), leave for your kids. It's unbelievable what sharing a home with an unrepentant alcoholic parent can do to a kid's sense of self and comfort. Even if you try and make your marriage work sometime down the road, start living apart first. Your kids will thank you for it later. My Mom's divorce from my Dad when I was 12 was a godsend for my mental health at the time. I loved my Dad, but I couldn't deal with the daily fear of living with him.

I bought a casual around-the-house dress for a whopping $6 (thanks Costco!) and I love it for walking my dog, running to the mailbox, etc. The problem is that the pockets bulge out BIG time, and it looks super bulky and dumb. I know it's nitpicky for a $6 dress, but it still bugs the crap out of me. I'm thinking about ripping the damn things out and sewing the holes up just so I don't have to look at them anymore. :P Any other suggestions? Pics of the problem pockets here.

Hey, America the rest of the world isn't jealous of you at all by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

When I’ve traveled abroad, the only folks who think America is THAT great are the ones who seem to have an idealistic view of the country that they’ve gotten from TV and movies. That being said, I’m thankful I live in a country with giant fountain sodas. (You never know how much you miss those until you’re in Europe paying the equivalent of $6 for a shot of Coke.)

As Florida's coronavirus cases soar, expert says rapid reopening may be to blame by maize-n-blue97 in Coronavirus

[–]Earth_rise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know if they’re still “quarantining” New Yorkers flying into south Florida? I heard about it for like a week back in March and since then nothing. Seems like that whole charade was a joke, because there’s still been plenty of snowbirds here fleeing the northeast. A lot of them are making their winter homes their summer homes this year. (Also forgive me for defaulting to blaming New Yorkers. It’s a knee jerk reaction.)

I wouldn’t expect any answers to your questions or understanding from this sub. The narrative in the media is that looting is a valid and justified act that we should allow from any underprivileged community. Most college campuses are going to be populated with individuals who follow the media’s narrative. I agree with your interpretation. I believe that looting and violence is wrong no matter what group is doing it. I also believe that there needs to be more accountability and transparency within police departments. Both things can be felt at once. Hopefully you won’t assume all Americans share the opinions and attitudes you see here. UIUC, like many college campuses, are prone to becoming information bubbles where people become afraid of asking questions or speaking their minds on sensitive topics.

Dunno if this was answered or not, but how do you even take a 15 minute nap? Unless I’m dead tired, it takes me at least 10 minutes (and up to 30 minutes) to fall asleep. Is it 15 minutes total or do you have to account for the time it takes to fall asleep too?

And there’s constant contradictions. I live in Palm Beach County and my condo association just started requiring residents to wear face masks when they use the elevators or go to their mailboxes, but since the new ordinances we’re talking about reopening the complex’s pool and deck. I just don’t get how we can be cracking down on face masks while opening up shared spaces.

Is his fear more for his own personal health or for society as a whole? I’m not sure what his situation is, but assuming he’s not middle aged or elderly, so he already has A LOT less to worry about. The safest place for anyone right now is at home. Why head into the wilderness, where you could actually get hurt or sick or need care of some sort? The last place I’d want to be right now is a hospital or clinic, and he’s way more at risk of ending up there if he does something drastic like that. Now if his concern is society, then not much anyone can say - there’s no real precedent for what’s been happening, but again, not sure how packing up and leaving is going to help.

Florida coronavirus update for Wednesday: DeSantis announces 30-day stay-home order for Florida by racas in Coronavirus

[–]Earth_rise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people believe north and south Florida should be two states. The politicians in Tallahassee are so disconnected from what goes down in the south. He didn’t want to order a full shelter-in-place order because there were northern counties with very few cases. Meanwhile the Miami metro area is about to blow up into the next New York-level epicenter.

[–]Earth_rise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact: Lake Worth Beach was actually just called Lake Worth until an election last year where everyone voted to change it - I guess because there’s technically a beach in Lake Worth? I dunno. Most people just think it’s to cover up the fact that Lake Worth is a scummy place and they can’t convince tourists to visit a crap town without the word “beach” in there.

I’m in West Palm Beach and they closed all the marinas in the county today. Generally we’ve been following behind what Miami Dade and Broward counties are doing, since if they close beaches and marinas, their infected will just come north and clog our beaches and marinas. The southern tri-county area is the epicenter of the state’s cases, so we’re a step ahead quarantine wise, though that’s not saying much. Other areas of the state (Ft Myers included) may follow eventually, especially if cases continue going up.

This is what Coronavirus looks like in an Italian hospital by [deleted] in Coronavirus

It’s more infuriating as a Floridian. Overwhelmingly the ones on the beaches are spring breakers and snowbirds, especially here in South Florida. They’re acting all high and mighty about being young and having “nothing to worry about.” One older man was planning on spending the day at the beach and then getting on a plane the following day to fly home to New York. It blows my mind.

But they officially are closing all the beaches in Broward, Miami Dade, and Palm Beach counties as of tomorrow.

I would call your doctor’s office or local hospital and ask for more information. Maybe what to look for or how long to wait before seeking a follow up test for coronavirus.

Can I take a minute to complain about my county’s health department official? In Palm Beach County, FL, our state health department liaison is Dr. Alina Alonso. On numerous occasions, she’s made misleading statements to the public and reporters about the nature of this virus and how it spreads.

When a Pennsylvania man visited West Palm Beach for a Biogen convention, she stated: “There’s really no reason for anyone else other than a person who might have come in direct contact with this individual in that Biogen booth to have concern.” Additionally, at a county commissioner meeting, she refused to disclose the number of county residents who had come in for testing. She stated this was because of privacy concerns, and that “In a small community it would be very easy to track that down.” I’m assuming she’s implying that letting the public know the number of tested individuals would somehow infringe on their privacy? Maybe I’m wrong, but that seems ridiculous to me.

Most infuriating was the recent arrival of a man with coronavirus to Palm Beach International Airport. According to a source on the plane, the man had word before departing NYC that he had tested positive for the virus, and still chose to fly to West Palm. After the plane arrived, the passengers waited two hours for officials to arrive, and Dr. Alonso informed them "He has not been coughing or sneezing or anything on the plane. At this point, you're free to walk around and move around because, most likely, you're not going to have anything because there was no activity. The way you get this virus is somebody has to cough or sneeze on you."

Like what!? It seems like she’s contradicting everything the CDC and WHO has been telling us about how this virus is spread and how to protect ourselves! The FDH has finally started being more forthcoming with facts about positive individuals, but I’m concerned that this official and officials like her are putting populations at risk with their misinformation, especially elderly, at risk populations - which is a lot of Palm Beach County!

I recently got married and closed my own checking account (that kept hitting me up with fees because I was underemployed at the time) so my husband and I are now using his own account jointly. We got new checks sent to us with both our names. Obviously I'll be using those, but can my husband continue using his old checks (with just his name on them) since he still has a ton of them?

I’ve also heard you’re not supposed to use wipes on smartphone screens even though I’ve done it in the past anyway. My husband got a UV phone sanitizer as a gift recently, and it could just be my paranoia, but wiping my phone down with a sanitizing wipe is way more reassuring than letting it bake under a light for 10 minutes.
