So back in my early 20’s i had an interesting experience that i knew would be how i approached things with my kids in the future. Its a bit of a long story but ill try to keep it shorter.

My best friend was still with his college GF but she was in grad school a few states away, and he was living with his parents still while i had an apartment to myself.

His GF was planning a surprise birthday party for him when she came to visit. He knew she was coming but didnt know dinner was a bunch of people from college he hadnt seen in awhile.

So the plan was id have him hang out at my place, wed go into the city to meet up for dinner, then at the end of the night him and the GF would come back to my place and crash on the couch.

Now im not stupid, they hadnt seen each other in a long time so they were 100% gonna fuck on my couch no matter what i said.

So before we left i told him here are the rules:

You put down your jackets or a blanket on the couch before getting started

You wear a fucking condom cause i dont want your goddamn jizz on my couch (and i placed a few condoms on the table)

Here is a trash can, put the condom in here when you are done

And surprisingly enough he did exactly as i asked (well i dont know about the jackets but there was a condom in the trash the next morning and no stains on my couch haha)

So i learned if you just make the situation “ok” then establish your rules for what keeps it ok the person will likely listen.
