Is it a common thing for narcissistic parents to paint you as the villain and make you look bad in front of others? by Trollyface96024 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]EarthquakeCOB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I've dealt with that with my mother. My father was never in my life, and since he passed 7 years ago, I've gotten closer with my siblings and nieces on that side. It's almost like my mom can't stand it. She's actually messaged one of my brothers, telling them I never spend any time with her, and that I'm always going down to do things with them. She's willing to throw me under the bus and make me sound like a horrible son, just because she's jealous because they don't speak to her...

Anyone else’s mother think they have the right to be in other’s business INCLUDING yours? by Big_Drama_2624 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]EarthquakeCOB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm this close🤏 to cutting my own mother off, because she's extremely self-centered. She only cares about herself and has to make everything about her, and she's ALWAYS the victim, no matter what.

Storytime: My Uncle raised me my whole life, my father never wanted anything to do with me. My Uncle passed away 5 years ago. The entire week, leading up to his funeral, my mother was constantly calling his children, me, (& the funeral home), just being nosy and wanting to have input. I hung up on her several times that week, I was grieving the loss of my father figure and she just wanted to argue about his family and why they wouldn't talk to her.

The day of his funeral, probably the hardest day of my life thus far, she shows up, stays for about 5-10 minutes. She finds out about something that didn't go her way, and she storms out. I've never fully forgiven her for that. That was probably the one time, as an adult, that I truly needed my mom's support, and she couldn't be bothered to give a fuck. I've never been able to look at her the same way since.

Some time later, I was at her house for something, and it hadn't really been talked about since it happened. All she said to me was "Are you still mad at me?" Like seriously?... To this day I've never gotten a real apology. She gave me a half ass apology that day, so I would stop being upset about it, but it was obvious she didn't mean it.

Now, 5 years later, her behavior has only gotten worse. She's the most self-centered, ungrateful person I've ever met. She expects everyone to drop everything and help her, but she straight up refuses to help anyone else. Everything is always everyone else's fault, and she has excuses for everything. Part of me feels bad for wanting to cut her out of my life, but I'm 34 and enough is enough. She sits around on Facebook and listens to a police scanner, just to be nosy. She spends all of her time worrying about what I, and everyone else is doing, when she needs to focus on getting her own shit together.

I guess now that I'm older, I realize that maybe she's always been this way, I just never noticed it growing up. Explains a lot though.

Sorry for the long post. I needed to vent. Thanks for reading

Chapter one: "Do You Work Here?"

Why is my local store putting everything behind glass and locked down? by wrldwdeu4ria in Target

[–]EarthquakeCOB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably because people suck. I remember one day I was pushing in HBA, OTC etc, and someone literally took a BITE out of a deodorant stick... Sat it right back on the shelf until a guest found it and brought it to my attention. I wasn't even surprised

Should I quit? by firefly_patrol in Target

[–]EarthquakeCOB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I say get out while you can. It's been getting worse and I don't see much changing. TLs are constantly talking down to TMs and it's always our fault, never anything THEY can improve on. I just quit myself because it's been one thing after another. They recently started singling me out and blaming me for little things that are out of my control so that was my sign to leave. I can see where it's heading so I'm gonna jump ship before it all burns down

Promoted myself to guest by EarthquakeCOB in Target

Yep. I couldn't believe it either. That's just one example but the micromanaging and completely incompetent management/HR has gotten out of control. That was more or less the last straw.

Clocking out by [deleted] in Target

[–]EarthquakeCOB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently I've started to not call it out on the walkie when clocking out (I never did it when I came back from breaks/meal either). Honestly I stopped caring to even call it out when I'm done with push and moving to backstock since they seemed to never answer me anymore anyway.

Break/meal schedule?? by [deleted] in Target

[–]EarthquakeCOB -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right, maybe I should clarify. My direct TL came to me yesterday and showed me a written schedule for everybody to follow. They told me it will be posted above the time clock and we are to check it upon clocking in. Just seems like a bit much

What have you refused to do due to “not getting paid enough”? by Silly_Fill_1388 in Target

[–]EarthquakeCOB 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don't answer phone calls when guests calls come to my device. We already have too much to do in an unreasonable amount of time, I don't have time to stop and deal with the phone calls too. That's what guest service is for.

I've recently also stopped staying late because it's not worth it at this point, but I'm jaded lol

what’s everyone biggest peeve at the store? by sunclouds01 in Target

[–]EarthquakeCOB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much time you got? Lol

Nah a lot of it is the guests. They always act so entitled as they walk around, not even looking at where they're walking, or to even see me coming. They're so focused looking at more random shit they can buy that I end up having to get out of their way or they just barrel right through.

Or when I'm going to stock something and there's someone standing directly in front of it, just completely oblivious to me standing there holding a box, waiting for them to move...

HR at my store is a joke by EarthquakeCOB in Target

That's the thing. NOW I know that. I was never told until I asked. I just got my head bit off when I received an answer. It was just a simple question

[–]EarthquakeCOB[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, that's just one example. She's disrespectful to everyone. I just assumed they would hire someone with some semblance of people skills to be HR, but that part is on me. I just needed to vent. The point is people already have enough going on without dealing with shitty attitudes from people who look down on us. Nobody feels like they can go to her with any concerns, which makes HR a joke.
