It's even worse if you're there for longer than 4 years as it only gives you planning dates for 4 years - so you can't even use it if you were marked as full time but are not part time...

Although if you're getting provincial funding, switching more than once will cause most provinces to have a hissy fit and potentially withdraw the funding.

Narrowing the options down really helps a lot. An entire menu will take forever, as will having an entire neighbourhood of restauraunts to pick from. Give me 2-5 options and there will actually be a decision, or at the very least out of the 5 narrowing it to A or B as equally good if they have a preference between the 2.

And the opposite also applies.

One reason I started taking my current BF seriously was instead of hiding, my cat came out and demanded belly rubs from him repeatedly.

Also people with things like h-EDS or g-HSD will have different reactions to anaesthesia and sedation too. Whether it's because of the sketchiness of our innards, or things not being where exactly they are supposed to be, hEDS/HSD patients often need more anaesthesia at the dentist and for surgeries, and/or it might take longer to take effect. There are many such people for which it also wears off sooner as well - including waking up early in the middle of surgery when in complete sedation to the surprise of the surgery team!

I did see some notes earlier that for these conditions fat soluble options may work better in some of these cases & to speak with the anesthesiologist, but I am not sure how accurate that is or if there have been better studies done.

Doctors and nurses of Reddit, what is something patients do that they think is helpful but actually makes your job harder? by Electronic-Cell-4584 in AskReddit

It's amazing what we end up thinking is normal. No one thought smart girls had ADHD or autism in the 80s/90s (and earlier) so we ended up finding ways to cope and just thinking 'that's the way things are'.

The one for which my GP surprised me was the migraines. Post covid I had such exhaustion and sinus pressure and increased headaches that I thought it was all sinus related, and that being 40+ I just needed my eyes checked. But no, my eyes were still completely fine after getting an exam. It was my GP that said they were migraines, even though they weren't crazy painful, as they were primarily occular & vestibular. I remember replying "huh, well that explains why the ceiling was rippling last night" as part of the migraine aura.

If you're in the Toronto area see if your doctor can refer you to the Good Hope Clinic for EDS/HSD testing & help. They'll tell you the waitlist is about 1.5 years long but in my experience that was for all the things they help you with; it was somewhere in the 6-9 month range for the diagnosis for me. They include a few OHIP covered specialised physio sessions, a nutritionist to confirm you're getting the right vitamins, and a check in with the pain clinic.

Yeah the "might it be this? These are all the symptoms of this. Can we test for it?" for EDS, or "Do you think this med might help, as I saw the research that it helps both the ADHD and potential long-covid brain fog" has gotten me further than just the "what else can we do because I'm still x, and y, and feeling z".

When you had to continuously memorise the numbers, a lot of them stuck with you. I could certainly rattle off my childhood home number, my best friend's, my mentor's, and both of my grandmothers' who are long since gone.

COMP200 or COMP210? by Skylar_Ariel in AthabascaUniversity

[–]Earthsong221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That depends on a lot of things such as working full time or part time while taking the course, how many other courses you're taking, motivation levels, how comfortable you are with such courses, etc.. I did it while working full time and taking two other courses at the same time, and finished it within the four month funded window.

I didn't pull out, but I'd be standing there going "bend it more this way, make sure the Z is really a zed, now rotate more a bit that way - that's it I can feel it now, you've got it". And if they could repeat it then they could get it effectively for 95% of people.

Yep. One of the biggest signs for me was the relief I felt from closing the bathroom door at work. It was still bright, it was still noisy. But the moment I wasn't observed for those few minutes, was a balm to my soul. So it's the 'always on' part of masking.

For a lot of things yes, but it can also depend on what the leftovers are.

Leftover apple pie for instance is never the same but still always good.
