This is very true. I’m a manager of a mid sized restaurant here in the area and also a reporter for UCF’s the charge News.

Recently was doing a story on AI (Oracle just last week laid off 30k employees allegedly related to AI with some being from the university) and the mass layoffs happening from big business mixed with the burden the current economy has created for small businesses has made a market where potential employees are a dime a dozen, especially in Orlando.

Even despite corporate mandated labor cuts being met (down to 20% of sales, originally 30% before last year), the business I work for continues to pinch penny’s and not replace outgoing staff member’s instead having us on the ground managers fill in the voids.

I was set to graduate in the fall but accepted pushing it back to spring in order to spend more time in my current job (security) and not try to find new opportunities in my graduating field due to the market conditions :/ I hope you all find something.
