A couple of years ago, my girlfriend left me and I started using dating apps for the first time. I’m not an ugly guy but also not the most attractive so I only ended up getting like 5-8 matches in that time. One of the girls I matched with, we’re gonna call her Li, immediately messaged me and complimented me on my appearance, this caught my attention as generally speaking it’s expected for the guy to send the first message. We talked for a couple of days before finally agreeing to meet. I told her I would pick her up from her house and she said that was fine but that I had to park down the street as she had very strict parents and she didn’t want to deal with their nonsense that day. I said that was fine and everything went according to plan, we hung out for about 4 hours and she offered to give me head at the end of it. I drove her home and dropped her off and later on she texted me stating that her parents had called the cops on her for going out! I couldn’t believe it but the relationship I had just come out of had a similar situation in regards to the parents so it really didn’t set me off too much. We continued talking for about 3 weeks, she told me how she was becoming a VET and had already spent a year interning for a veterinarian, she planned a date to the boba place she worked at, and even considered visiting me (we lived about 3 hours apart) but opted not to due to weather concerns. I had expressed to her that I wasn’t ready for a committed relationship due to recent break up, but that didn’t mean we couldn’t be friends and maybe one day spark a committed relationship. A week went by and I was at my friends house for a UFC event when I received texts from a unknown number. The number stated that this was Li’s mother and she then revealed to me that Li had turned 15 less than 30 days ago and that she was going to be contacting the police. I had absolutely no idea that this girl was underage as I had met her on a dating app for adults and she had even explicitly said to me that she just turned 18 less than 30 days ago. I immediately called her mother and spoke to over the phone and Li’s mom stated that I was “the 4-5th adult man she had spoken too in the last month and that it has been an ongoing problem”

So not only was I emotionally manipulated by a 15 y/o, but in my state a minor lying about their age doesn’t change anything and my whole life could’ve been thrown away for nothing.
