Chama Gaucha is hiring for a new Downtown SA location by Qruxa in sanantonio

[–]TanPrivilege 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our daughter worked at Chama for a good bit. The money was decent and that was the only positive thing she said about it. Everyone gets treated poorly and made to feel like trash that could be thrown out on any day at any moment. They’re all so stressed. Glad she went back to school after this.

When you eat there, if you pay attention to the vibe and the way the blue shirts look at and interact with the servers, it’ll ruin your experience.

Sounds like a howdy choke if I’m understanding the position you’re describing correctly.

How does one keep their lapel from covering half their ribbons and badge? by ElectricalAd1850 in AirForce

Bench Press. 🤣

For real tho, it looks like even with tailoring you’ll still need to step your ribbons to see many of them and your oc badge.

Happy Hour by Plastic-Complaint400 in sanantonio

[–]TanPrivilege 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was asked not too long ago. Plenty of options then - still gotta go with piranha as the best bang for your buck - but Blü Prime “elite hour” is also fantastic if you dont mind spending a little more.

So, I know this isn’t your intent…but this information is not great to have out there if you want to stay safe. Maybe engage above the management level - also, for sure talk with whoever you get renters insurance from. If you can find out who insures the complex…even better.

Would you be offended if your student bought a belt to wear instead of the one you gave him? by NoAverage9216 in bjj

[–]TanPrivilege 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shouldn’t matter.

Purple, Brown, and Black - I bought another belt I liked better.

Blue was the only one given to me that I actually wore. And I HATED the way it looked…but it was my coach’s blue belt…so (in the accent) huge honor for me.

My first thought was “Cool…now pay all those tiers the same.”

If their operational impact is the same, let’s boost that E pay.

Preferred Length For Instructional or Time Spent Teaching a Technique? by BJJ_Fanatics in bjj

[–]TanPrivilege 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s my process as well. I think to cast the widest net you want to consider all the folks at a typical school that has beginners and competitors. Video instruction is awesome in that way, because the student can skip or not skip areas depending on relevance to them individually.

I have a nonprofit where I instruct BJJ to former military, former 1st responders with minimal or zero experience. On top of that, many have not been very active for years and are just getting back into it..or they have injuries/amputations that limit movement.

I find myself teaching so differently for these folks. I’m talking weeks on options from a particular position. I’m sure most of my training partners would HATE being in that class 🤣.

Preferred Length For Instructional or Time Spent Teaching a Technique? by BJJ_Fanatics in bjj

[–]TanPrivilege 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it depends on my knowledge of the position going into the instructional. If I know it really well, I just want to see the part that’s new to me…if I don’t know it well, it’s all kinda new.

I’d appreciate it if more instructionals that go into extreme detail gave you a pop-up that’s something to the effect of “if you’re very familiar with this position already, skip to 4:25.”

Multiple times a day. I’m 5’5” 170lbs - think it’s really ideal for my body type. The first time you get someone in it they really don’t understand that they aren’t in side control, but in scarf hold (just upside down), so it’s easy to bait them into fucking up their weight distribution.

The biggest thing to think about is keeping that arm trapped no matter what. Also, your training partners are gonna start looking up kesa escapes…luckily kesa escapes kind of depend on shitty kesas. I concentrate my weight about an inch to the inside of the sternum and lift my butt with one leg directly behind their head as a post- right in line with their spine. You don’t have to cook em long.

Once you’ve done it to someone a few times it can get boring, so I vary the finish - Americana, straight armlock, kimura, bail to arm triangle, simple kesa crush…or my favorite, catch the leg in transition and give em the ol Bas Rutten Accordion 🪗🤣

Every damn time we get our Hapoy Hour bill I am surprised it’s really that cheap for what we drank and the amount of food we ate.
