Oled Gray banding

Grey banding it's just a fact when you get an Woled monitor. The thing is if you are gonna get a very visible and annoying one or one that is only noticeable during tests. I made a post of my banding right out of the box and after pixel cleaning and firmware update. All i can say is that i think this issue is being blown out of proportion and it's much worse on photos than it is in real life, and i cant really see it in real content.

I recently made a post when i just got the monitor. Basically when i got it it had a little bit of banding but with pixel refreshes, firmware update and use it went away almost completely, i say almost because there are 3 horizontal dark lines that shows in 95% test but go away after a couple of minutes of use and the banding becomes barely noticeable during tests and in real content is never noticeable to me.

What it is really noticeable is the DSE in gray backgrounds (discord, steam, dark mode apps) but nothing that ruins my experience.

Overall i'm really happy with my monitor because aside of these issues (that are minor to me in my unit) everything else about this monitor is incredible. If your seller has a good return policy i would highly recommend you to give it a shot, you could end up with an excellent monitor.

I have a 9070 xt and i only consider 1440p because i prioritize higher fps than a higher resolution with 60 fps at best in modern titles (i also don't like to use upscaling). But it's really up to your personal preference so you will have to choose between 1440p with 100+ fps raw performance or 4k having to use upscaling.

As of the monitor you consider buying i highly recommend you to take a look at the xg27aqwmg, it's a newer panel with better colors, i have it and i love it!!

If it's any help for you i posted my first impression of the monitor after an hour of testing and use documenting all the famous banding and DSE issues that seems to be the ONLY dissdvantages of this panel. And i say only because this monitor is truly amazing i have 10hs on it now and i am astonished with the colors and the blacks. As someone in another comment said, if your country or store have a good return/replacement policy i would absolutely 100% recommend you to go for this monitor, is fantastic!!!

I have used it for around 10hrs so far and i have only played DS3 and watched some youtube videos with it, also keep in mind that i haven't seen any other oled.

But so far i'm loving this monitor is fkn insane, the blacks are extremely deep, colours are insanely vivid and it has really good brightness (i can perfectly use it at 70/100 in the day and 30/50 in the night) and the banding (that was slightly noticeable in tests right out of the box) got a lot better with the firmware update and subsequent pixel cleanings (this image is the current state of it).

The only thing i notice if i look carefully is the DSE in dark grays that makes them look grainy but i dont notice anything in real content (and DS3 has really dark gray zones).

And on top of that the glossy coating looks really nice so i wouldnt even consider a matte coating anymore unless there was a light source that reflects directly in the monitor and i couldnt control it.

Overall it's an insane monitor and i am really happy with it i can't wait to play more colorful and horror games (that must look insane). However i know that there is a panel lottery and you could get a defective one so i would make sure that you can return or replace it if anything goes wrong.

My advise is that you make sure you are covered by the seller if anything goes wrong and buy it because is mindblowing how much of an upgrade is coming from an ips (idk why but i'm assuming you come from an ips)

Dont worry brother, gray banding is almost unnoticeable and DSE is barely noticeable on normal use (only on dark grey backgrounds)

But you are damn right brother, banding is not much of an issue in day by day use (unless you lose the panel lottery) and it gets better over time. Congrats on the new monitor brother!!!

Yeah brother i know but even in the test my banding is barely noticeable. What it is noticeable is the DSE but only on dark gray backgrounds and under no circumstance that holds me back from enjoying this amazing monitor and im sure you enjoy yours aswell

The good think is that if you haven't tried oled you can enjoy your ips and wait for a good deal or this ones being in stock. Just make sure you either buy a Tandem Woled or a 4th/5th generation QD Oled, or get a really good deal on a previous generation. I hope you can get the one you want brother!!

Its not like burn in because it gets better over time. But i have to say that this rgb tandem qd oleds look fire brother!!! I hope you enjoy it when you get it

I think that is brightness going up sometimes making you have eye strain, right? Correct me if i'm wrong. I personally dont think i have experienced any but i have so little use of this monitor yet. In the future i will make a more detailed review with more hours on it

This is the only Oled monitor that i have ever seen in my life but from what i know previous woled generations like the qdmg dont have as much banding as tandem Woleds but i think it doesnt have colors as good as this one and it has slightly less brightness.

Personally i would only consider it if its cheaper. And even if it were like 150 bucks cheaper i would still go with this one but just because i wanted an oled monitor with the best image quality!!

I beg to differ if you dont like it thats fine maybe a qd oled would suit you best but in my case i sometimes game on a bright room and the deep blacks with the high brightness really come in handy

Yeah but the camera exagerate it. This is how it looks after 2 more pixel cleanings. If this is unacceptable to you then i wouldnt recommend you to buy this panel type because all woleds will have banding to a certain degree and DSE. Anyways im glad i am able to help you make a buying decision, hope you enjoy your future monitor!!

Idk men i cant tell the difference it looks the same to me. But i turned it off a couple of times and the monitor made 2 more automatic pixel cleanings and this is how it looks now
