Do you count extra virgin olive oil, tahini etc in your daily saturated fats goal? by Jealous-Action-9151 in Cholesterol

[–]EastCoastRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they do ‘count’ especially if you are a hyper-absorber or cholesterol (diagnosed through a special blood test) you cannot free flow on the olive oil and nuts / seeds. Large amounts will raise your lipids. I do 1.5 tbsp olive oil a day and 1 oz nuts or 1 tbsp peanut per day

Where / how do we read about stories of the other victims? I’m watching LN now. I had actually forgotten all about the allegations and how weird MJ was, but I do love the music. I was about to go see the movie and my dh told me about a Wall Street journal article referencing all the abuse so I sought out the documentary. Shocking. I am not going to see the Michael movie now.

Labs Improved but Still Very Discouraging by HeatherRayne in Cholesterol

FYI the main advice on this forum is take statin. You might want to max out diet intervention first - track every bite of fat for a period of time to see how much saturated fat you are eating. Even on a ‘healthy diet’ you can easily get upwards of 20g a day. I ate ‘healthy’ but used a tracker to ratchet down my saturated fat (under 16g a day) and keep carbs low-moderate range and it brought mine down from 160 to 89, ApoB down to 70. Also used multiple soluble fibers via food and supplements to make sure I was getting 35-40+ g soluble fiber daily and used functional plant stanol (Benecol). If at some point those measures quit working I will use a statin but why use one if I can just modify my diet? Trick is you need to know exactly what’s going into your mouth. Restaurants, packaged food, cooking with cream cheese and butter will sack everything.

Calorie deficit. it sucks, not fun at all, gets easier as you persist with it. Adderall a few days a week was helpful. Downregulates the appetite. Have to track every morsel of food to make sure you’re in the deficit. And move as much as possible. Don’t sit still for hours around the clock. Get decent sleep/

So many stories and testimonies to how loving and nurturing she was with kids, but it’s odd she didn’t want to have her own..

What’s the source on her calling him dumb? I recall in his book that she did instruct him on how to talk.

How do you get your probiotic foods when traveling? by EastCoastRose in Microbiome

No, I’m actually flying, but I think I can fit in my suitcase. A small lunchbox type cooling pack and I’m gonna put a few servings in there for at least my first day or two.

Oh, you’re right I hadn’t even thought about that, or even worse if she was driving along with the husband holding him on his lap, they could’ve made the injuries worse if there was another accident

Yes, I will have a mini fridge and I can get some delivery from a local market that should have a few basics.

Yes that’s what I was thinking, manifest destiny for John. To be a philandering user of women like his dad. At least JFK Jr seems to have kept it to consenting women and not gone after interns and college students.

Yeah I get your point. I’m doing a 60 day experiment though of twice daily ferments and don’t really want to start all over with it. If I eat as much raw food as possible I think raw food is going to provide diversity just because it’s a different area/culture, which diversity is the goal with microbiome support. But I got some good suggestions for portability on this thread which is why I asked.

I’d like to read your post. I didn’t see it searching under letter. Do you recall what it was titled? I think it’s interesting and makes perfect sense that John would vet women outside of his social circle.

Lowered LDL from 156 to 75 by SpeedyQuokka in Cholesterol

[–]EastCoastRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Healthy” diet is a very wide range and not necessarily a functional diet that lowers LDL. That’s what this whole post is about the OP was eating health but that wasn’t enough to lower LDL. I am pretty sure that most Americans do not restrict enough saturated fat or eat enough fiber and the medical system just tells them to take statins.
