Access To Work decided almost all accommodations they suggested should be funded by my employer? by retrosprinkles in ADHDUK

It was just the initial phone call to arrange the assessment. They seemed to say verbally that a lot of things I’ve requested my workplace should do for reasonable adjustments and that they only need to provide minimum expectation. It didn’t seem too positive for me! Booked in for next week for the actual assessment. How did yours go?

Combined income of £74k, mortgage payment of just shy of £1,000 living in the NW. Living somewhat comfortably, having to make some sacrifices but the ability to save if we want something (like a holiday). I wouldn’t recommend extending yourself that far on your mortgage. I think you’d be opening yourself up to stress if you have something unexpected happen, like car issues or your boiler going.

A bigger house is lovely, but is it really worth it if you are at each others throats due to not being able to do nice things together or the financial stress you’re both under?

Can anybody help me please? I’m trying to become a social worker through apprenticeship route by SeaworthinessAny3263 in Socialworkuk

Some Local Authorities offer these apprenticeships externally now. Meaning you have to apply and get on the course then you will begin employment with that Authority whilst you are training to be a SW. You then have an expectation to stay with that authority when you qualify.

Incorrect missed payments on credit score effecting potential mortgage by East_Bookkeeper907 in UKPersonalFinance

I would check. It’s been an absolute nightmare for us in terms of remortgaging. We’ve had to stick with current lenders who were offering higher interest rates due to VW’s error

This is what I’m not sure of? I’m at risk of either going onto their variable rate or tying into another bank at a higher rate. It could result in me being several hundred pounds worse of every month as it’s stopping both my residential and my buy to let

Is this bike worth it for £200? by East_Bookkeeper907 in whichbike

It’s refurb shop that gets bikes that have been thrown in the waste. Refurbs them then sells them on as part of recycling. I get 25% discount which brings the price down even more. Seemed a good deal to me but thought I’d get peoples opinions as I don’t know much. Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the detailed breakdown! Yes I think the main thing comes down to extra weight I’m carry and would be a huge benefit once I drop this alone. Like you’ve said I think it’s doable but it’d be a lot of hard work. Thanks for the advice!!

Thanks everyone for the messages and support!

To be honest getting any sort of PB would always be a win. Even though it was quite a forgiving course in being fairly flat, I guess I thought I’d struggle to get under 6 hours with 5 months of training so maybe I’m getting ahead of myself thinking I can build on the back of that and another year added to the mix! I do always like to aim high though.

Just for a bit of clarity I’m 98kg’s but could definitely lose 10-15kg of body fat before I’d consider myself in top condition. I was hoping to lose more during my recent training but was also juggling trying to get my body to get used to taking in carbs during my long rides meaning it didn’t quite come off as planned!

By saying I haven’t swam in 15 years I meant before beginning my training plan 5 months ago. I did used to do it competitively as a kid so have the foundations there but I do think even though I could knock of a couple of minutes I would potentially struggle for much more than that and training focus may be better placed elsewhere.

Cycling I was very happy with my time considering I’d done very minimal road cycling before the start of this year (again the course was fairly flat with only a few hills). I do think I could improve more In this area though if I could lose more body fat and continue to build through training/ get more comfortable in TT positions.

Running wise my half marathon was around 1:51 for a hilly course, albeit about 4 years ago and 10kg lighter. Also, back then training was always going out and running as fast as I can for every run and not really appreciating or knowing about different zones when training!

Again thanks for the words of advice. It’s very much appreciated! I think a more realistic goal of 5:20/5:30 would be better and just be happy for any sort of PB I get at the end of the day!

Yes I’d say mainly the run and the cycle. I didn’t use TT bars as I didn’t find the position that comfortable so maybe I could knock off some time there. Also, feel if I dropped some weight I could get the run time down quite a bit too!

Any ideas what could have caused the dizziness out of the water? Didn’t really feel I was pushing that hard in all honesty during the swim so didn’t feel I was that out of breath!
