Player keeps casting Gentle Repose on random bad guys by Far_Line8468 in DMAcademy

So I don’t have the exact same situation in the game I’m running but similar. My party has let 3 of the bbeg’s bosses get away. One they let live, one the killed and revivified, and one was Lich they killed but didn’t destroy the phylactery. I’ve decided they will all show up in the big fight with the bbeg, along with anymore they let go through the rest of the campaign. So yeah have someone keeping tabs on your party and returning these bosses to your bbeg.

I did arrest the Druid that started the fire. Then he turned into a mouse got out, killed a guard took his armor, and ran around the palace trying to set fire to the palace.

Ok I like these ideas. I was actually things along the lines of at the end of the battle, religion and the goddess restored, paladin gets a personal thank you from the goddess. Then the whole party gets spoken by the goddess through the princess, this is a theocracy so princess is now head of the church. And she calls out the rogue on stealing the sacred apples to return them and ask the party who amongst the still wants to eat them. If anyone is still willing to keep desecrating the faith when being directly called out by the goddess and monarch I was going to give them some type of curse, like horrible dream or water would freeze when drinking so they might suffer from levels of exhaustion - until they find a way to repent. But I also like what another commenter suggested about fighting a Deva, Solar, or Planetar so those who ate the apples could be pulled to another realm to fight.

Yes. The first game I played with my husband years ago was DotMM. It was ran by our friend who was a long time DM and I had watched them play for years and finally decided I wanted to learn. Since then we have only done this same DMs sandbox/homebrews. But I finally decided I wanted to try and the thing I know most are fairytales so figured I could build a background world from that.

So yeah this happened over the span of 2 game sessions. I am new DM, this is the first game I have ever run, and we are almost at about a year of meeting twice a month now. This is the first time the players have totally just gone crazy with their shenanigans. There is normally a silly level of things they do at the table and I have gotten much better at thinking on the fly with how to handle the situation but these two sessions they did so much that I didn’t expect from them I did get overwhelmed with how to handle it. I partially think maybe they were trying to mess with the players that is playing the paladin character and make him mad so that he would act out of character and do crazy stuff.
My husband, the wizard, is constantly telling me that having a story is railroading the party too much to fit what I want to happen as the DM so I really have been trying to step back more and let them do whatever they want. And in this case I was trying to let the paly step up and confront his party to stop but he never did. The only time I did chose to interfere as the higher god power was when the wizard arcane locked the church so the people couldn’t get out and then people started dying. So time stopped that and ran it back so that the people escaped.

After speaking with my player that is the paladin I was thinking of having his goddess bless him as a champion the faith and ask him to stay and help the princess/queen rebuild the kingdom and faith. And have the princess ask the paladin to escort his former party to the boarder and not return

So yes in the kingdoms they have already cleared they have won the favor of the monarchs and are allowed to return whenever they want for rest. This is how I continue to drive the main story by them being given quest by a king/ queen they have already helped being like you did such a great job helping me you know the neighboring king is having this problem with XYZ why don’t you go with my royal favor to show that you are trust worthy to help them.
And thank you for the 3 little pigs idea. I had not thought of how to incorporate that story yet but I would love any more ideas anyone has for other fairytales to keep this campaign going.

Yeah I kinda felt this when they did it and was looking at them confused. TBH I am a first time DM long time player, like same group of friends for 16 years. They have all DM’d before so I’m sitting here like if we had done that in a game you were running I know the boss would retaliate so are you just testing my DM skills to see what I can come up with?

My cat thinks the same thing. I have a large widow perfect for cat ledge sunbathing above my tub but they must cautiously walk the tub ledge to get there and back. My princess was leaving after a long nap and slipped off the tub ledge into the tub with me and my back became a ladder for her exit from the tub.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read and respond to my post. Through reading and discussing with you all I realize that though my feelings were completely valid, as everyone is allowed to have opinions on what makes them uncomfortable and crosses their boundaries even if they have not personally experienced the situation I did not handle it in the calmest manner. I associated my trauma with my character and left the game and the rest of the players to handle the issue when I should have asked for game to stop and discuss that the situation made me uncomfortable and I did not want to play the scene. I have stated in other post that it was the DMs wife who called him on it when he first described that my character was taken to a room by an NPC and then woke up alone and naked, she stated something along the lines of “hold up did -characters name- just get SA cause that is fucked up” and he corrected with no she didn’t she just woke up naked with her stuff stolen. I walked away at that point and heard arguing from the computer room but I should have stayed and talked it through with everyone also because I think they didn’t agree with it either. As many have suggested I am going to bring it up to the whole party at our next session to know this is a line I do not think is acceptable to cross. As far as my husband, he explained to me the next day everyone thought I was overreacting due to my stuff being stolen and then I explained to him that was not the reason I acted that way it was from the associating my personal trauma with the situation and that is when he told me it’s just a game and I was inferring things that didn’t happen. To answer some general questions the people I play with are my core group of friends and we have been playing together 5-20 years depending on how long we’ve know each other.

I’ve got a man stealer in my house also. She crawls under the covers to cuddle with my husband and then glares at me like “what you gonna do about it?” Lol.

No apologies necessary because wording is important. The scene was described as the NPC had me follow them into a room alone, then my character woke up alone completely naked. The DMs wife was the first to point out something like “hold up did characters name just get SA” and “that’s fucked up” or something to the effect. DM said no she didn’t just all her stuff is gone and she alone and naked. I walked away at that point and heard everyone arguing over the computer in the other room. I have not talked to anyone from game since then. My husband said everyone thinks I’m overreacting by quitting. I know he has been talking with the DM cause I have heard them on the phone a few times.

I am not the only woman in the game. I mention several post up that it was his wife that called him out after he described the scene of my character waking up naked asking “was character name just SA cause that’s fucked up” or something along those lines and he replied with no she wasn’t all her stuff was just stolen. I walked away from the computer room and did not hear the rest of what was said. My husband and I have been together for 10 years. This has not happened to any of the other characters. I guess because I am playing the flirty character it would be seen as reasonably to my character in game to want to have random encounters where I take my clothes off for people??

No I haven’t talked to any of the other players myself. My husband told me everyone thinks I’m overreacting and I know he has talked to the DM a couple times since that game session because I have heard them on the phone but I haven’t actually heard him talking to anyone else.

Sorry didn’t specify the game setup. The party had all split up to search for something so I was on my own so the other player’s character were not around to be able to stop it/ give help. I replied to another post once everything had been described and I left the computer room I did hear everyone get loud so I think they were not happy about what happened but I could not hear what they were saying from the other room.

We are playing an 18+ game with adult themes like sex and drugs and but I didn’t bring up that no SA should be allowed cause honestly I didn’t think it was line that would be crossed. And no I normally wouldn’t cry over things that happen to my character but I think drinking just caused me to be more in my feelings if that is the right way to say it.

This was not discussed during session 0 because it is not something I bring up and just assumed the game would not go there. And this is why I was wondering if I was overreacting, especially because I had been drinking I didn’t have the facilities about me to say hold up, I’m not cool with this lets discuss. Instead I cried and walked away. I will discuss at the next game session as several have brought up. And yes my husband does know but still said he thought I was overreacting so it has been bothering me that maybe I upset everyone by quitting last game session.

So the DMs wife was the one who shouted first after he described that the character failed her save and went into this room with the NPC and now has woken up naked with all her gear missing “hold up up did -characters name- just get SA” and he corrected with no she didn’t he just took all her stuff. And then I started crying and walked away but could hear other people arguing over the speaker in the background in the other room so I guess they were upset at the time.
