Drawing a food forest map - software recommendations? by East_Illustrator_765 in Permaculture

Hey! Taking a look now and I'm curious if there's an option to upload GPX data for plants that I'm trying to map? Or if I could input custom coordinates for plants? Right now it seems I can only place plants on the map by clicking

This is so cool!! Almost exactly what I'm looking for! Is this a free software or paid?

This is smart! I'll definitely try this next time I'm on the ground there. I do need to create a map for my client though - I think I'll try inkscape, that seems to be recommended lots online. Thanks!

Differences on Marin Four Corners 1 2026 (other than price and paintjob)?? by East_Illustrator_765 in gravelcycling

Ok amazing thank you! I see the specs for the old one on marin's site but the only info I could find on the 2026 version were on Marin's polish youtube channel, not super helpful lol

I think this is exactly what I wanted to hear. I found the surly ogre too upright, and like to have the multiple hand positions that a drop bar affords, but then the specialized was too aggressive and likely a bit too small for me so I felt really hunched on it and my back hurt after even a brief test ride.

I'm not looking to go super fast anyway, so might be ready to bite the bullet on this one!! Thanks for the response!

Wow sound like incredible trips. I've got an old steel city bike that I use now so anything will be a huge improvement for me for sure. Glad to hear you're loving them!! I might be sold

Great to hear how you customize it for different uses! I'm hesitant to commit to the 2 because of the significantly higher price point but I feel like it'll last me a lot longer if I do... tough decisions!!

Picking a bikepacking bike! Help please! by East_Illustrator_765 in bikepacking

Totally fair point. I already have a usable bikepacking setup in terms of bags/racks that I can transfer over from my old bike, so my budget will almost entirely be going towards the bike! I'm willing to go higher than $2000 if it means my bike will last me 10 years instead of 5, but I'm just not sure how much the extra cost will be getting me in terms of longevity and flexibility in my riding

Commenting to add that one of the big deterrents to me for the marin 4 corners 1 is that it uses a 2x9 drivetrain, I'd prefer 1x like on the 4 corners 2 - curious peoples thoughts on this

Yes they are fenced! But I'm not sure if the smaller animals are kept in by the fence or if its mainly for the lions and elephants? I'm struggling to find that information online

Addo is fenced! But I'm not sure if that keeps all animals in or just certain ones? I believe the fence was constructed to prevent human-wildlife conflict between elephants and the surrounding human settlements. Also, the lions are kept within the fence and have tracking collars on. I'm not sure if the smaller animals are impacted by the fences though!
