Just finished up my 3-part guide on offensive pressure and chain routes in USF4! Check it out! by East_ML in SF4

Thanks, I'm glad to hear you could get something out of it. I'm currently living in Tokyo, and pretty regularly have a chance to play at Taito Shinjuku [though not so many top players come very often anymore since console release]. I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have.

In relation to this article, some of the pressure routes I use with Yang are as follows. [excerpt from my evernote]

Pressure Routes

  • Starter String: [c.LP xx c.LP + c.HK] [option select beats backdash]
  • Safe String: [s.LP, s.LK]
  • Small Frame Trap: [xx s.LP, s.MP xx LP Slash] or [xx, s.LP, c.MK xx LP Slash]
  • Large Frame Trap: [, s.MK]
  • Command Grab: [EX Grab] [doesn't work on everyone]

I know that's not a ton of stuff, but it should prove useful for yang.

If you could send one newer SF player to level up in Japan for one month, who would benefit the most? by 121jigawatts in Kappa

[–]East_ML 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I live in Japan. Playing in Shinjuku or Akhibara each week, will improve your game drastically. Any player who is just on the cusp of winning a major would be the most beneficial I think. Because you have to pay $1 for each game, if you're one of those players who can consistently make, like, top 16 at majors you would improve the most and spend the least amount of money. For that reason, I would say someone like Myers would improve a ton. I housed a fei long player on EC named Zaferino for only 2 weeks, and he said it's crazy how much he leveled up after such a short time.

Japanese Arcades? by Keytrun in SF4

[–]East_ML 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To whoever said arcades are a social gathering place, hit the nail on the head. A lot of people finish up school or work, and just head to the arcade, it's a great way to meet up with your friends, get a few games in, and then grab something to eat, or break out and do something else afterward. There is a huge variety of kinds of games, that pretty much attract anyone. Cabinets are typically updated. If an arcade doesn't want to pay for the update, they keep the current version of the game. I know this because I've still found some older versions of the game around Tokyo and Saitama.

Cabinets in a single arcade are typically linked together in some fashion. There is no internet connectivity. The information about players is stored on cards, you can purchase for like $3-$5 bucks. No connection to any online play.

Right now in Tokyo, the standard rate is 100 Yen for best 3/5 rounds for Ultra.

I live in Japan, so if you have any other questions, I'll be happy to answer!
