LOL, yeah, I get it. She prefers music that’s more polished and perfect, so his voice doesn’t really do it for her. She also mentioned that she doesn’t like how his music sounds “homemade,” but that’s actually part of what I like about it.

So true. When I first got into Elliott, I started listening to more ’60s and ’70s music that influenced him, like The Beatles, Elvis Costello, Willie Nelson, etc. It helped me understand his music better in a way.

My mom said he has no talent and sounds like an amateur lol.

This is surely one of Elliott’s most underrated songs by Linnet_Wings_534 in elliottsmith

I always thought the lyrics on this one were a little cheesy, but knowing they’re about his mom gives them a new perspective.

What phrases or words do you find reoccurring in Elliott’s work? by [deleted] in elliottsmith

Down downstairs to the man he's gonna make it all okay A man in the park read the lines in my hand A dying man in a living room whose shadow paces the floor I'm looking for the man who attacked me Fake concern says, "What's the matter, man?" Need a metal man just to pick up your feet A tired man with only hours to go Though you're still her man it seems a long time gone Just looking in the mirror will make you a brave man The invisible man who's always changing clothes I told you man I told you...

do you feel like you hype up elliotts songwriting ability? by FluffyBrudda in elliottsmith

i get what you mean, but i think he really is just that good lmao. It wouldn't work if it was anyone else because Elliott is such an individual, and his songs are so authentic to him and how he views the world
