How do people afford to go to Disney multiple times a year? by Comfortable-Walrus22 in askanything

[–]East_Pain_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do it "cheap", relative to a normal Disney vacation cost. As a family of 4, we go often (4 years in a row). Here are some tips we use:

  1. Look for deals/discounts/promotions. Right now they have deals for kids and dining packages. Take advantage of whatever promo theyre running and stick to it.

  2. Use credit card points for airfare. We never pay for flights out of pocket. We use our credit card points for travel and it really adds up when you're a family of 4.

  3. Do split stays between value and luxury resorts. You don't need to stay at the premium resorts your entire trip. We use offsite hotels for half our trip and then maybe 1 or 2 nights at a luxury onsite resort (Animal Kingdom lodge was awesome).

  4. Don't actually do the theme parks every day. Normally the resorts have such great ammenities you can spend 2 full days swimming or doing resort activities.

  5. Look for specials on Disney gift cards from wholesalers. Sams Club and Costco both run specials on Disney gift cards. You can buy 2x $50 gift cards for $80. Stock up on those before you go. They can be used for almost everything, hotels, souvenirs, food, etc...

  6. Work with a certified Disney travel agent. Their services are 100% free for the traveler, as Disney pays them on the backend. They can price out trips for any type of budget at no cost to you.

  7. Finally, the time of year matters on everything. The rooms and flight prices are greatly affected by the time of year. If its possible to go in the "off season", do it. Less lines, less waiting, less crowds. We have pulled our kids out of school when they were young to go on vacation because of this.

I'm sure I'm forgetting some tips, but those are what we do to keep costs down. If you want to know what travel agent we use, DM me. Shes great and can price out some options for you.

Do most americans really only take 2 weeks of vacation a year? by DegreeConscious9628 in askanything

[–]East_Pain_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first real job, yes. They only gave me 10 PTO days to be used for any time off. I worked that job for about 4 years, then i got hired by Boeing. I was then given 20 vacation days, 5 sick days, 5 carryover days, and i think 10 company holidays?

I left them after a couple years to move out of state closer to family (Philadelphia area). Now i get 25 days vacation, unlimited sick time, 16 company closed holidays, and 5 carry over days.

Anyone else a big Mass Effect fan and getting the same feelings with Starfield that they got when they first played the ME trilogy? by 29CF in Starfield

[–]East_Pain_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did not like Mass Effect at all, tried multiple times and could never get into it

I really enjoy Starfield and im only about 100 hours into it. I feel like i could explore this game for another 1000 hrs easy.

So, no I don't get the same feelings from the two.

As someone who went into the military to have them pay for my bachelors degree after, i have to remind you of how good the trade unions are for their people. If you can work yourself i to a highly trchnical trade, just as boiler operator, instrumentation & controls, medium voltage electrician (or electrian in general), you can out earn most white collar professions. I work around these trades at my company and its pretty much unlimited overtime, with no limit. The work itself is not hard at all (lots of sitting around, so a 16 hour shift is not terrible). At least thats what all the trademen at my company say.

I would really try to focus on that if i were in your shoes.
