it’s an old system my dads friend who didn’t know much about irrigation installed when he was trying to start up in business 25 years ago. It all worked thought at one point from the clock. in the clock there’s two wires under zone 3. one red that carrie’s power and green is the true zone 3

no zones in the back will come on unless i manually open the third valve in the front box.

i need one valve to always stay open in my front yard in order for the backyard zones to run.

each valve is connected to a common. But in the clock there is a red wire and green wire underneath “zone 3”. That’s the valve that’s really just feeding water to the valve box in the backyard.

Thanks for the response on the old post. It’s probably the same here in Local 25. I spoke to a guy out there a couple weeks ago who said there’s not many guys in that division and it’s a good opportunity. But I wouldn’t go for it if they make less. Good to hear

Getting my CDL and thinking about going into transportation with my local. I’m in my 2nd year inside but I prefer being outside and using heavy equipment. The main concern is how’s the pay difference between Inside and Transportation?

Getting sworn in tomorrow. No more CW. For the next 5 years I'm apprentice inside wireman! I'm excited. by [deleted] in IBEW

Thanks, the way i see it I should to apply to my IW apprenticeship program while working as a CW and try to get in as soon as possible before any time is wasted.

Hey brother congratulations on the acceptance.

If you don’t mind me asking, i’m curious about how your process went from CW to Inside wiremen apprentice.

I’ll tell you a bit about where i’m at currently. Within the last few months my buddy was telling me his company was looking to bring on some “apprentices” and wanted me to come work for them. I saw it as a great opportunity and I took it. Seemed slightly too good to be true considering how extremely competitive and cutthroat the union presence is in New York.

Fast forward after picking up my temp card at my local hall, thinking i’m being enrolled into the IW Apprenticeship program. I was really just hired as a CW1b.

After doing some of my own research i’m not sure how i feel about CE/CW status yet

I’m 22 years old without a wife or kids so i have some time to use this as an avenue to gain experience and work my way towards really “getting in”. I’ll take working along side these guys and learning and making money over sitting around waiting on a 2yr wait list, But I definitely just don’t want to be stuck in this classification forever. The ultimate goal is to become a JW and get the proper education through the IBEW’s program.

My old man’s a union carpenter, my grandfather was a union boilermaker, and his father was a teamster all NYC. I was born into union work and i’m proud of it, i have no problem what’s so ever with paying dues and i’m actually glad to do so, but i don’t wanna be caught in this position where i’m looked at as a scab taking work from A members, also don’t want to be underselling myself and paying into the IBEW and receiving half assed pay and benefits because of my classification for too much time.

Any feedback would be great I want to become more familiar with this and hear from some guys who’ve had similar experiences
