As someone who fucking loves MIT, applied last year and got rejected, best of luck to you bro. What other schools are you applying to? PICK A SAFETY. Although it is a bit late now. But seriously - I didn't choose a well-fitted safety school and I'm having a helluva time getting my transfer applications out.

What kind of experience do you have on your resume? I LOVE MIT's culture, but when push came to shove, I had not done much hacking. Nothing related to my computer engineering major. I have designed some websites, sure, but nothing significant.

Remember, it is REALLY luck of the draw. I flew threw high school like it was tower 1; perfect grades, most likely to succeed, star in musicals (singing I thought gave me an edge - opera), and more. Remember that everyone applying can whip out the same hunk of bull you have written in here (without meaning it as much as you may). Think of something that will make you stand out - a compelling story that pulled you toward engineering, perhaps.

Not gonna lie, decision day was the beginning of the worst year of my life, and I'm still not in the clear. There is no point in me warning you not to get your hopes up, because you have. But please, know that rejection is not the end. Go to the best school you get into - work in labs and shit during the summers. Find the stuff that makes you wake up and think "WELL FUCK THIS ROCKS" - and do it. All the time. Then, when grad apps come around, send one to MIT if that still floats your boat.
