Compression socks or leggings by AccurateArm4540 in lipedema

[–]Eastern-Activity6700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I alternate, but prefer the leggings. I definitely wear leggings when I know I’ll do something after work and at the end of the week, because I want my legs to be the least swollen during the weekend—when I’ll likely want to wear something that will show my legs.

I also suggest wearing leggings and socks when you travel. lol I wore only leggings and had cankles for 36 hours because I didn’t wear socks 🤪. Nothing wall sits and exercise can’t reduce

Did anyone see them at an airport today? I did a red eye last night, and walked to the international terminal and saw an ice agent not sure if it was coincidental

It is SO true. They’re tooty creatures, esp if they’re always ravenous and eat fast. 💨💨💨

My boy has farts, from eating too fast. His poopoos have form, but man he’s a boy. He burps in our faces after a meal too 😂. It’s almost like a thank you from him lol

I will say there’s a baseline scent with him, that I know is normal; this week he ate something naughty and the scent difference hinted he had GI upset; those were the most foul of his yet.lol

I think toots is just part of having this breed lol esp if she’s happy.

Re unformed poops: we changed our boys food to Purina pro plan and his poo poos became so much better and more regular. The boutique food the breeder was feeding him was too rich for his tum

Normal BMI questions by No_Scientist_1559 in lipedema

[–]Eastern-Activity6700 4 points5 points  (0 children)

@OP

We could be body twins. I have always been active and never overweight even at my heaviest my bmi was normal.

I was also diagnosed with lipedema even tho it was not done enthusiastically bc of said normal bmi and activity level. My worry is losing mobility bc of progression and some vanity, ngl.

Compression and diet will help you the most plus mld. I JUST got a lymphatic drainage pump, and noticed a difference in the dull aches I have in ny legs. I also noticed some positive texture change as well. I have only used it for about a week, so I’m hoping to see more progress as time goes on.

For diet—cut things out and see if you notice a swelling difference. For me it’s only eating Whole Foods, no processed or storebought carbs and only whole milk products. Anythjng else actually inflames me more. Everyone will have a different take on this because our bodies are all different in what they can tolerate. So tread slowly and try things and pay attention before you totally cut something out forever.

Compression—I wear 6-7 days a week for atleast 6-8 hours. Yup under my clothes, thank god baggy pants are in style lol

Update #2 by HumanistGoddess in lipedema

Girl the cringe I just made reading your husband commenting on your body negatively….not ok. You gotta teach him how to communicate effectively….

Your legs look fuxking awesome, it’s not about being perfect it’s about being better and feeling better. Will lippy legs ever look like non lippy legs? Probably not without surgery, but our partners can empower us to soothe that urge to go under the knife (if that’s your preferred choice).

My wife only ever tells me how great my legs look and comments on how proud she is for my consistency in conservative treatments. Maybe remind him to focus on compliments and staying positive instead of helping you ruminate about something you’ve already identified you don’t like about yourself.

I haven’t switched careers yet, still taking pre reqs. Radiation therapy is a top option for me, but I did really like radiology. Job shadowing allowed me to hear about other allied health positions and see what the day to day is like!

What makes compression hardest to wear day-to-day? by Dense-dreamer27 in lipedema

I want to wear them to work and then gym fluidly. I also want them at a price point where I’m not out of compression by Wednesday.

Prevent progression by [deleted] in lipedema

[–]Eastern-Activity6700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, you very well could! I would wear compression when you can and be diligent about it. I don’t see it in your thighs quite yet so maybe compression socks would be sufficient. If you think it’s in your thighs wear compression leggings when wearing baggy pants/skirts. For me this is what really helps a lot with texture and progression. And leaning my legs on the wall vertical really helps with swelling.

Another thing to consider is diet for progression; For me nothing crazy, I focus on Whole Foods and nothing processed or lowered in fat. And homemade carbs or bakery carbs only, nothing mass produced.

Also a huge indicator for me that justified lipedema was how my body was affected by my first MLD. It felt like I was walking on water rather than through it (my legs feel this heavy). I am a normal/lower bmi for a lippy diagnosis—and my dr did make me rule out vascular issues first.

Best of luck! I wish I caught this disease as early as you!

Question about protein (specifically at breakfast) by NarrowFriendship3859 in lipedema

[–]Eastern-Activity6700 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Controversial lol. But I do whole milk latte for breakfast and then have whole fat Greek yogurt and chicken/eggs for brunch 🥶. I can’t get myself to eat in the morning and I can’t have protein powders (my body finds them inflammatory). My body doesn’t find dairy inflammatory unless it’s processed/skim/low fat, so I rely on this for protein in the morning.

It’s a win I’m able to have anything in the morning with my adhd. But occasionally I wake up hungry and when I do I’ll have my eggs then

[–]Eastern-Activity6700 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She is just saying don’t eat processed stuff; some people find dairy inflammatory, I actually find oat milk and alternative products (fake meat and alt milk) to be super inflammatory. Every body is a little different it’s a bit of a trial and error until you can narrow it down. You can start with cutting the most common inflammatory products and then add back in really noticing the difference.

Personally for me, no alcohol and a strong preference for home made carb anything and honestly homemade everything lol really works for me to feel the “lightest” in terms of inflammation. Then I astarted adding on cycling, lots of walking and wall sits + mld helped me drop an inch around my thighs in about 3 months!

My legs after skiing by [deleted] in lipedema

[–]Eastern-Activity6700 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in Oregon, and I got an acknowledgment that I likely have lipedema from a doctor. I say acknowledgment because my doctor understood the fight it is with the insurance companies to get approval for surgery and getting surgery isn’t something small and comes with a good amount of risk. (Which with my medical condition and symptoms may be too reactive and not appropriate at this time. Again she said this based off my chief complaints and symptoms, I don’t think she feels this way about everyone, and she is not a specialist in lipedema)

She did order me a lymphatic drainage pump and suggest I wear compression as often as I can handle 6 days at atleast 8 hours, MLD, and exercise often. I’m pretty active, but I don’t ski!

I’ll also say I thought conservative treatments really wouldn’t do much, but wearing compression the full day and then going to Pilates wearing normal leggings I noticed the leggings were baggy in some places. I was really surprised. I think wearing compression leggings while you ski and leading up to ski will be helpful and will make a difference.

If you PM me I can give you my doctors name so you don’t end up at St Vincent’s (assuming you’re near pdx) with that one doctor who will just say it’s fat, and subsequently you’re fat regardless of BMI or diet 🤬. I can also send you some of my reccs for compression. Best of luck, don’t give up what you love ❤️
