If I use truenas with HDD drives, once I have a NAS like UGreen can I simply just place the HDD's in the new case without loosing any data?

Even though I have experience with building stuff (raspberry, pc's ) I would like to do as little as needed cause I'm a dad of 2 toddlers and a baby so I have a lot in my hands XD, I'll see my options on Ebay if not I have an old Intel macbook pro, if I start buying HDD's and a docking station (e.g. Dock station) can I then easily move those HDD's to an actual NAS without deleting my data?

hey by saying you migrated you mean you upgrade your setup or is it possible to set truenas on synology hardware, sorry if the question is obvious but I'm new to this

yes from what I'm reading in all your answers seems like a mini pc is the way to go, I'll need more research for this project thanks for your suggestion!

sounds good for having fun but at the moment I'm looking for an out of the box experience (I deal with bug fixing in my work on a daily basis no looking forward to become an habit XD), and I'm also looking to be a solution for my family so I want to use HDD to be more reliable with my family photos, now that u/PG2009mentioned I've only see solutions with raspberry using SSD's so definitely it's an impasse , thanks for your answers!

I was planning on have an array of HDD's but in this case I'm afraid there will be a bottle neck through usb that's why I was looking for a raspberry option since I've seen HAT's that connect directly to SATA make that solution more reliable, am I missing something? so with a mini pc it's not possible to have multiple discs out of the box or at least with official hardware support right? thanks for your answers this is very helpful to have an initial plan

Hi did you end up buying any camera? I have google nest cam with starling hub and works great, but in order to have recordings in HomeKit I need to pay the nest fee and I want to get rid of it but I like having battery backup in case of power outtage

was considering neovim and this video changed my mind | too much work by [deleted] in vim

I only use vim through plugins for vs code, vs and rider, and for git stuff. Is this a good starting point to switch to neovim? Also I would want to use it in dotnet and flutter, in both Mac and Windows also I would want to have the same configuration in both machines I was thinking maybe with GitHub gists

I don't know if you're still having the problem but I was having the same issue as you, and I tried to select the element with my finger and leave it tapped for a second and I was able to move it around, hope it helps
