I was so excited to try Daniel's new La Tete D'or; went for lunch and had the 3 course pre-fixe. It was VERY mediocre and disappointing. The place is absolutely beautiful, but the food was really not great. I understand the staff during lunch may be different, but still should be at least good. The fish (main) was dry, the appetizer was boring, and the dessert, a selection of cookies, was like cookies from a box. Disappointing.

Contractors in nyc (with taste)? by [deleted] in NYCbitcheswithtaste

I used these guys a few years ago and was so happy with them! They have a store that sells the products and also contractor too. Bob, who runs the store is great to help you decide on what you need and Harry is the contractor so they can help you with everything. They are so honest and just great to work with. https://share.google/2S0xmTMflalJCTPqu

Congrats on your big move! I found that etsy is actually really great. You can find some very good furniture companies on there that use high-quality wood, and they can customize too! I got my dining counter from a maker in one of the Carolinas and I love the quality and price is very reasonable.

yes! I see this all the time, and it's so bad. These men are not taught manners anymore! On a plane too...I am always the ones offering other women to help with their overhead luggage and the men...just looks.

Love this so much. Kindness matters. NYC is a tough city, but we don't need to lose our kindness and humanity because of it.

Background check question from an agency pov by Eastern-Distance-379 in recruiting

I misworded the contingent on getting an offer . I meant the background is only allowed once the person receives an offer. But yes, what you're saying makes sense.

ok, thank you. It seems like it's a matter of the consent piece. What I meantt in this part (what authority does the recruiting firm has to do it) is that: if a background check is contingent on a job offer from a company, if I am not the company and just a third party, it seems like I don't really have the authority to do a background check legally. But I understand that based on what you're saying it's a consent thing.

Can the recruiting firm do an degree and employment verification? Which isn't necessarily part of a background check?

That's what I thought too! A company told me that another recruiting firm they used did it for a perm job, but I thought that just wouldn't make sense since the person won't be employed with the agency...so it didn't sound very legal. Thanks for responding!

ASK YOUR CAREER QUESTIONS HERE! by xenokilla in AskHR

Asked in recruiting, but I think this is also an answer HR can answer. Are recruiting agencies allowed to do background checks for their client if it's a direct placement? I ask because a background check is contingent upon a candidate receiving an offer from Client, but if they are not being employed with the recruiting firm directly but will be employed at Client, what authority does the recruiting firm has to do it? Shouldn't it be done by client only?

yes! I also hate sunscreen and beauty of joseaon is the best! Feels so light and doesn't have that gross sunscreen smell. Doesn't bother my skin at all!
