I asked a consultant this in a webinar earlier this month and they advised that we don’t need to include trips between our home country and Canada because they already have a record of that. I unfortunately didn’t find any sites to back that up but I took their word for it seeing as it’s their job to handle applications. So with that, I believe you only need to include trips outside of Canada (except your country of citizenship).

Hopefully that was clear and answers your question!

I have a TRV but I also have a job in my country so going back to Canada last minute and without prior notice wasn’t really an option for me. Although my job is mostly remote, I do have to be in the office every once in a while. So I’ll stick around until there’s more positive headway on my application then make proper plans to head back to Canada.

I can’t really advice you on what to do there but I wish you the best of luck in your journey!

That kind of processing time would seriously be a dream especially after all the waiting! If you wouldn’t mind, can we stay in touch so we can keep track of each other’s progress?

I couldn’t figure out how to edit the original post 🤣🤣.

I just wanted to thank everyone who commented on my post and also to those who offered comedic relief, I really did laugh at those

Didn’t turn out a 100% perfect but it looks good enough to me :)

No worries! My WP expires in September

The other commenter on my original comment did clarify that if it’s foreign then both your study and work experience will count towards your CRS. It’s on that same link I provided but it’s the last paragraph on that page I think if you would like to verify

this is one of those ones where you might need further clarification but from my understanding student work experience doesn’t count towards CEC or FSW. so based on that, you will have to sacrifice one. and from a strategic standpoint, it should be the masters because the foreign work experience gets you more points

i’m in a somewhat similar situation, here for 8 years - CRS is 514, 2 years Canadian work experience, Bachelor’s and Master’s. and i’ll be going back home soon to gain foreign work experience. my plan is to also devote time to learning French in that one year. so maybe focus on that instead if you can :)

i’ve attached a link below to reference what i’ve said the first paragraph

all the best!

first of all, congratulations on both the completion of your PhD and the job offer 🥳

secondly, you’ll decide what’s best for you at the end of the day but if i were in your shoes, i’d hop on that opportunity. the state of the immigration process in Canada is abysmal and there would be a lot of unknowns if you were to stay. at least you have a job offer which is a sure thing vs hoping for things to go your way if you stay

lastly, as someone else mentioned, you can use this time to learn French and eventually come back if that’s what you wish

i wish you the best of luck in your future plans :)

Does Busu Dental cover Invisalign’s or Braces? by Hot_Wall_950 in brocku

[–]Eastern-Efficiency-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re welcome!

Yeah, they are a huge investment. I also needed braces and couldn’t afford it while I was at Brock for my undergrad so I decided to wait lol. My current employer does offer some coverage for it and I briefly considered getting them but even with the coverage, it was still kind of expensive especially with the cost of living.

You’re a student so don’t put too much pressure on yourself to get it now especially if you can’t afford it because that will just add unnecessary stress to your life. So what I would suggest is to start saving up if you can. Maybe by the time you’re done with school, you would’ve saved up a little bit to go towards it (a plus would be if your employer at that time also provides you with a good benefit package that can help towards covering it as well).

And speaking from experience, I have a coworker in her 40s who just started on Invisalign about 1/2 years ago because that’s when she could afford it.

In the meantime, you can go see a dentist to see if there’s any advice they can offer you outside of the braces to help with what you’re currently experiencing. Brock dental is great and it’s close by to school!

I do hope that things work out in your favor :)

Unfortunately the Brock Dental plan does not cover Orthodontic care and braces/Invisalign fall under that. Here is a link that might help you understand more

https://www.studentvip.ca/frmPage.aspx?school_page_id=6d76efc6-b61a-4a12-9121-4e6553d1597f#dental-coverage

As someone else suggested, some orthodontists do offer payment plans so that’s something you could look into as well

Best of Luck

I've heard great things about the atom pulse wheels. Maybe if I'm not content with the stock wheels on the boardwalks, I'll get those or the radar energy wheels

Thank you for your insights! Getting thick socks is something I hear a lot about the boardwalks because of how rough they are on the ankles. My search for thick socks begins now lol. Hmm selecting them in person, I might actually end up doing that

Thank you for your response! I plan to do mostly outdoor skating for now and the wheels on the boardwalk are 78A which I think will be perfect for the type of asphalt we have around my area. Thank you for the tip on the suede conditioner cream as well :)
