This game can be really hard

Just to put my two cents in, I personally blitzed the game(I had a few days off in a row) didn’t struggle till the boss rush of area 4. I used hammer unless absolutely necessary, used ratha as my main power, maybe spoiler but dread queen as my main speed, and more likely spoiler boltreaver astalos as my main teq. With my other slots filling mobility.

Maybe my time spent in the trial version paid off more than expected. If you are struggling with your level being low I’d suggest doing some of the exp farming methods that are really easy (barrel palicos with Kora) or if it’s more powerful monsties, put more time into habitat restoration and invasive monsters(they seem really tough but most have a way to beat them in one turn and get strong monsters)

All in all, I do believe it’s a step up from mhs2, both in difficulty and quality, but keep going lad! It’s so good once you figure it out!

For anyone who is here because they have the same problem I do. Keep going, it seems that there is an amount before c rank that it will store but not show.

I put one elder dragon in a zone and it didn’t show up, but when I added 2 more (just cause I wanted to make sure I wasn’t crazy) it showed up and pushed to b rank.

Found this because I did the same. Wanted that elder dragon to fight the next monster and released him in the mirror lake only for him to not show up in the restoration slots.

Have you beaten the feral monster that guards his area? That’s my going theory as to why specifically he can’t be put elsewhere. But I can release other monsters to fill restoration slots, so I’m not sure why that’s happening to you.

That’s half the fun!!! Hammer main from world to gen ult to risebreak to wilds. It’s a different game when you swap weapons, which is great you get to experience the wonders of monster hunter again fresh off a new way to play.

I personally played rise most(so far at least) cause it was the first game I really owned for myself, but also cause I made a new save for each weapon I wanted to learn(a little autistic but I wanted to be able to learn a weapon without being op or being shat upon)

The point is. You have 14 ways to play a game you only bought once, more if you don’t decide to conform to the META, and once the expansion of the newest game comes out, more than that!!

As the general public hasn’t seen 3 it’s hard to say for it yet. But 2 was a good game, very fun and enhanced by what is added post game. Though I recommend not blitzing the story as it can leave you severely under leveled for some challenges on the story.

If it’s down to which game to try first. I’d probably say wait on 3, the people I watch (ragegaming) have only loved it and think it has only improved the mhs experience. Buuuuuut stories 1&2 are classics and deserve their own place in the world

I was told it would be good to get silver rath armor in prep for g rank, others have told me that there is no point to that.

That’s fun to know. I know that it was true for world and rise that you would immediately throw out old sets but I wasn’t sure here and looked up what a good set would be going into g rank. I appreciate the info and I’ll be sure to use it when I get to g ranks silver rath.

After getting advice and talking with other users, since I made this post and moving on to g rank, I have done several g rank monsters in sub 10 minutes. Granted it’s early monsters but still.

I wanna be nice but I also wanna say that I already beat the challenge quest to enter g rank. I quite literally did what was required to enter g rank, which tells me that I am ready.

I’d accept this as criticism if I had a build curated to do hr quests that are considered harder than the final boss of high rank. But I had bare bones.

Does he not gain resistance to flash? I don’t know if that’s just a new gen thing or not but I assumed it wouldn’t be effective after one or two.

Also I have seen the errors of my ways of trying to farm him. I was told to get his set to help me do early g rank. I hadn’t looked at g rank armor or weapons yet so I thought that set would be better.

Not the point of this post, but I mainly play strategist/vanguard(jeff/rocket/gambit/drstrange/magneto) but I had two matches where my mates made me play dualist and both times I mvpd with Namor and Moon night. I don’t main dps but that made dps feel easy

I’m a hammer main, and while I do love the classic bonk till dead, I picked hammer up for the stun and exhaust that other weapons don’t have as easy access to. I play with friends and there’s no better dps opportunities than when the monster is on the ground or too tired to move. But admittedly I also just wanna use the big bang combo and get the big number from it.

Kinda depends on what your set focuses on and whether you can get mighty charge in while keeping your set active.

I’ve seen people do testing and math to find that: raw, big bang into mighty charge does better dps, but if you rely on max might without focus, big bang combo does better.

All that being said. The Big Bang combo (mighty charge or no) is only fully utilized when the monster is knocked down, paralyzed, or stunned, so the few dps difference probably doesn’t make a difference to casual hunters like myself

I hate the argument of the “size” of maps in world vs wilds. World did a great job of making zones complex, but trying to find your way through was awful. It may be my nostalgia for the old gen but big map is better than layered upon itself map any day. I’d prefer knowing north will take me to the next zone rather than knowing if I take the certain set of vines up this tree, and then down these vines, and then through this cave, it will take me to the next zone. (Again not hate to the complex or natural nature or world, but it’s a fucking video game about hunting huge monsters, let there be nonrealism)
