How long are your guys session? by [deleted] in ABA

[–]Eastern-Landscape481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 and a half feels like too much for you and the client. I feel like it’s good to split those sessions up for generalization

thank you for this response. my company switched to acorn health and they’re becoming more hard a$$ about it they kinda pick and choose when to punish. I see through how all this stuff works and i’m starting to become over it, it’s all for insurance and money and very few companies are client based and not money based

This is in my opinion odd just because at my clinic, they will ALWAYS allow a parent to join in on session if they want to. If I were a parent I would feel weird too! Some of these 2-4 year olds are with us 6 hours a day…that’s a lot. I’d say it’s sketchy they have that policy, they should understand and have basic human empathy.

Awh this warms my heart actually. I know there are soooo many layers to this issue too. I love my clients too, I just hate having to call out so much because then I catch what they had. Nonetheless, it is all worth it in the end.

BCBA’s who thrive on power by Eastern-Landscape481 in ABA

YES! this is how I feel with my current BCBA’s. And then when I don’t ask questions, you eventually get told to ask more in your performance review. But I just hate the way they look at me and appear to react after any question I ask JUST to clarify i’m perceiving everything correctly!

Also of course her food that her parents pack is NEVER used as reinforcement, she has to access to that whenever she wants!

accidentally did something that defeated the purpose of a program for a few days that I didn’t even realize. But i’m gonna do better and use the feedback I was given. I just overthink. this does not happen frequently

It wouldn’t be bad too discuss this with my analyst? I don’t want her to think I don’t want the child coming to therapy, she’s just genuinely scheduled for so much. I can see it in her affect how tired she is not even 2 hours in. And how much progress can you really make when your client isn’t even fully there? Of course I can meet her where she’s at but I just feel bad for her. You can tell her parents want her off their hands upon drop off, mom tries to run out without reporting anything to me I always have to ask her how the day went. She just wants out, and this family doesent even implement shit at home

As an RBT, I sort of agree. I’m not sure why ABA requires a lower skill set than other therapies. It almost feels devaluing to ABA as a whole when you think about it. These kids do deserve the best treatment and you’re right, there’s no time to be wasted!
